Paul, April 22nd, Recife (Brazil) - ARCHIVE

There are lots of pic online..
-
not sure if you guys know, but Hope is a very popular song in Colombia, just like Vandebilt is in eastern europe. So that explains why he played it in Colombia. What Paul doesn't realize, or maybe people should point it out, Hope of deliverance is a popular song in different parts of the world. Europe, S. America, Asia. The only place that Hope of Deliverance failed to make an impact was the States.
-
So changes from last night are mparky expected... MMT --> HG TWST --> IJSAF No HoD or I Will Helter Skelter --> I Saw Her Standing There
-
Does paul realize that everybody in Brazil knows his set list by now? He has been playing in brazil for the last 3 years, tv specials, internet special, yet, not too much variety in the set list.

You're opening a can of worms there! It's the same for other places, he's played London 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 with basically the same set!
-
I know, it's been the same set since 2002, same format, not too much variety. When he played Hope in Colombia, it proves that people are excited to hear variety and all the wings and solo hits, even though they have never seen Paul before. We live in an era where we have the Internet. People are smart, they know how to look up a set list........... Variety is a must nowadays.
-
To be fair the 02, 03 and 05 set lists were quite varied compared to now. If he brought a few of those back and added some more solo/wings I don't think we could complain too much.
-
In 2002 he was promoting driving Rain, yet he only played 4 song off Driving. Lonely, Driving, Loving Flame and freedom. When Chaos came out, same story, only 4 songs from the new album : Fine line, Jenny, english tea, and follow me. For the rest, the set list has remained pretty much the same. even the videos he uses are the same. The visuals during a day in the life was used in 2005 during english Tea for example. The only major improvement since 2005, is that now he does rotate 2 songs.... back in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, he would never change his set list.......it used to drive me insane. so a little improvement ...but he could be much better.

I saw Paul in London in 2003 and Lisbon in 2004, there were around 10 or so song changes from the year before so there has been some variety, but not too much since then.

Back in the US --> US Tour 05 had lots of changes too. We can all have our opinion on what he chooses to play and the Beatles/solo divide but the biggest issue is the total lack of significant change since 09.

That is true and like you i'm trying to balance the argument out a little, it's only the last few years that there really has been a issue with the setlist. The real problem for me is changing the name of the tour and making only a few changes, that's really silly.
-
If Paul does this for any future Europe and USA gigs, its really taking the biscuit IMO , he needs to do more rotations starting with the second half of the show as its been like that for 3 years

This setlist is getting more than a little boring now...It's a pity because just the addition of HOD and TWST gave it a 'hint of mint'!
