Paul McCartney 2012 Rumours

everything is speculation at this point. not saying it isn't true, but there were many rumors that looked to be a sure thing, like Minneapolis and Regina, Sask last year that fell through in negotiation at the last minute. definitely a wait and see.
Stop shooting rumors down and let folk have HOPE
I will always be....hoping...hoping

According to an article in a newspaper today, there's a possibility of a McCartney concert next January in a Brazilian city called Belo Horizonte. He would be the first musician to perform in the city's stadium after extensive renovations for the 2014 Soccer World Cup: http://www.thebeatles.com.br/portal/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4369 http://www.hojeemdia.com.br/m-blogs/vibra-bh-1.2538/paul-mccartney-na-reabertura-do-mineir%C3%A3o-1.6223

I don't think the "Mining Journal" is Paul's local publicity representative. So yes, there's a newly refurbished stadium that needs christening and Paul has shown a love of touring that region. Of course he's going to be top of the hit list that the promoters would like to secure. Have they asked? Has Paul agreed? That's a completely different matter..... After the last couple of years experience every South American promoter is clamouring to get Paul to their venue and he could move and settle in that region and never bother to tour elsewhere. Which of the many proposals, if any, Paul considers and accepts we shall learn in due course. One thing that we have also learnt is the South American promoters are not shy of generating demand by openly talking up their intentions and generating a demand even when Paul hasn't agree a thing. So expect loads more rumours from that continent.. Martin

People of the Latin culture make phenomenal audiences, but if Paul tours that region for the thrid time in three years...this will not sit well with the Australians.

Actually, if he returns in 2013 it will be the fourth time in 4 years. However, if I were a promoter I would invite him to return in 2014, to play at the opening ceremony of the Soccer World Cup. It could either be a full concert or a mini-set. I think he would be interested, considering that it will be hosted by one of the best soccer teams in the world and it will be broadcast to billions of fans around the globe. He's agreed to perform at the opening of the 2012 Olympics, so it would not be such a crazy idea.

Sure, but he might consider it an interesting idea, despite the distance. He has stated that nowadays he prefers to perform at special occasions, unique events, exotic cities, etc... which is why he has staged one-off concerts in Israel, Abu Dhabi and other faraway regions.
