And now the time is near....

Where's everyone getting this silly notion that the people on here don't love Paul? So some members didn't like his performance, so what! That means they don't love him!? Are your knees sore from jumping to conclusions?
I don't want to put a whole string of "I agree with this post" emoticons here, as that would be obnoxious. Just know that I actually pumped my fist in the air and said, "YES!" when I read this.

Okay, the time has come to laugh off the insults that come with opposite opinions. Once name calling, etc is injected into the opinion, the substance is gone.

Truer words couldn't be spoken. Thank you.

Sometimes I surprise myself about just how accurate I can be .......although I'm glad we all agree that everyone's personal opinion on everything is valid....perhaps there is hope for debate in here

The truth is out there, they say. Well if go around youtube you'll find that Paul has offered some of his best concert EVER in the last 12 months, and also some of his worst ones too. His comeback this March was terrific, Rotterdam, Zurich and Brazil, for instance. I'm gonna ("torture myself" according some) listen to the Rotterdam concert now. Full show in 21 videos
I think the Recife was the best show but I can't find it all. .... and now I'm gonna say a thing in which I know I'm in huge minority... but I don't care I DON'T LIKE MUCH WINGS OVER AMERICA! No. I don't think Paul vocals are that great there. There's lots of screams and it's wild but vocals are not that good techically. Paul kinds of struggle trough some ballads. My Love or Live and Let Die. "There is good and bad, at every age..." Only people use to criticize more when you're older or reminds the fascination of seeing your hero YOUNG, actually most people don't say "I'm gonna LISTEN to Paul" but "I'm gonna SEE Paul", when going to a concert. If you go back at the Beatles concerts the same remains. If Paul was 25 no-one would say he should retire. They say it because of his age Paul live 1976 My Love, Paul has done it better than in 2012... I know majority is gonna disagree with all this but I won't discuss with you, cause I'll be listening to Paul. 2: -
20th century, It's cool you don't like Wings over America. It was my first time seeing Paul. I was very young, my brother took me. I was in awe, not sure if mattered to me much what it sounded like. I was 12, lol. I haven't heard the recordings in a long time. I only have them on lp. But on my radio stations the Paul song that is played most often is The live version of Maybe I'm Amazed from that show. It never ceases to give me a thrill.

Everytime I'd ever started to have my doubts about Paul's voice, he would defy me each time. I thought he was a tad shaky on Oprah in '97, as well as the Montserrat event that same year (granted -- considering what he was going through at the time -- he held up beautifully). Then, when RDR came out in '99, it was as if he'd gotten into a time machine. At The Concert For New York City in '01, I didn't think it was his best vocal, despite doing a pretty good job on "I'm Down." Again, the following year, he blew all of us away on the Driving tours. And so on and so on. This is not the time to count the man out. Despite a wavered couple of notes, his vocals at the Olympics, overall, displayed a smooth, robust voice. He sounded a lot like the real Paul McCartney to me. And I think something awesome in in store for us.

Audi, I like the way you think. Nicely put. With all the live work Paul has done, there has bound to be a clunker or two. So many things go into making a live show work.

20th Century- I can see what you mean about "My Love" and I never quite noticed it before...but I think both versions are appealing to me in their own ways. The Wings version, is much more musically diverse, especially with the help of the live wind instruments. It makes the whole performance much more endearing and heart-felt. I also like the tone of Paul's voice here better than on more recent versions of "My Love". On GENYC, for example, it is a much more conservative performance. You can expect everything the band and Paul, is going to do, vocally and musically. There are really no surprises or inserts that make me think...ooh! I'm glad he dug this one out of the archives...but, it is probably more like the recording in that stance as well. Which, in tdoday's live music market, and Paul's spectrum of thought, is probably what he should be going after.
When I saw him in Philly 2010, he did not sing this one too well. He was croaking on the "woah wa woah woahs". I haven't heard it live since then, and I hope I don't again, because it sounded great at Citi and Fedex Fields and I'd like to just have those performances to remember. The same goes for Maybe I'm Amazed. He had a really great night at Yankee Stadium when I heard him sing it. But I've heard some pretty horrible recordings of that one too. So i really don't want to hear it again...at the risk of it not being as good as I remember. -

considering the title of this thread i would say my continued attempt to speak the truth against a back drop of highly speculative and debatable opinion is perfectly valid... do you have to distort/delude everything so badly?

The opinion of a great singer, btw. I have "survived the torture", actually my only complain is it was not the full show but half show. Hey Paul played a wrong guitar note in Here Today in Rotterdam, more ammunition then for those who want it.

Hey, one of my fav vocals of Paul. He sounds like I sounded in 2011. btw, this is rock and roll, you're not supposed to sound in any exact way, there's no score... It's not opera, where every second is predictable and controlled, and lacking any freedom. You can change the whole song if you want to, each and every little note. I think Paul will fight for his right to sing in freeeeeeeeeeeedom...

Exhibit B 1964! I Saw Her Standing There Great vocals????
Paul has sung it better in 2012, and I guess worse too.
