true magic - time travel

I've been reading threads where the quoted text is above the original post. Thought I was crazy at first, but it's happening in a lot of threads.

No you're not crazy! Or maybe we all are for putting up with all this BS. That's why we are using the quotes...so we can try to make heads or tails out of something... when the board really gets bad. omg... :
-
Are you sure I am not crazy? Either crazy or forbidden....
-
well??? MPL may eventually think that they were actually the crazy ones...allowing all these problems on this board... shame...I bet a lot of people will be having 2nd thoughts.

I know I have had 2nd, 3rd and 4th thoughts.....
-
I have no doubts in my mind that MPL thinks some of us are crazy.
-
Has this been brought to anyone's attention? It really is a pain in the butt. :
-
Yes. Originally it was thought it only affected posts where quotes were involved, but we have seen instances where posts switched places chronologically without the tell-tale quote as well. As this can lead to greater confusion and potential arguments the issue has been forwarded again with greater emphasis on that potential. That was only just recently so some time may be needed for the issue to be addressed and, hopefully, resolved. Martin

The problem exists because the clock on our computers does not match exactly what it will show on the forum when we post, so when people are posting too soon after the last post (within seconds or a minute or two) the times are out of order. But you probably knew all that! My computer said 8:10 am and this posted here at 8:15 am.

I did have a look round on-line at this issue and it's been seen before elsewhere. Times here on the message board apparently are synchronised with the host server clock rather than local or atomic time, hence the visible difference. So don't try altering your own PC time to match it to stop this issue. We switched server shortly before the new main site was launched, since when the issue has been evident so it may be due to the new server. Let our tech guys have a looksee. Martin

I've noticed that occasionally my computer's clock is not far off from this site...but at other times it is 5 minutes or more off.

Same here!

Apparently the issue has been corrected. The message board is hosted on more than one server and the time synch hsd drifted between them. That has been corrected now. Please contact us if the issue arises again. It seems a simple correction is available. Thanks. Martin

WOW! Thanks! It looks as if it really is the same time as what is posted on my computer.
-
Yeay! It's fixed now!

See...sometimes it really is "ask & ye shall receive" But more often than not thou wilst taketh away too.
