Most moving vocalists and performances ever

ETA Janis Joplin: Me and Bobby McGee
That is tremendous. I remember coming home in a car with the radio on and everything was boring. Then, quite strangely, the DJ played that one on the radio, and the "la la la" part was like something coming from another planet. Quite ironically the version I like the most of Piece of my heart is not Janis (But Vanessa Amorosi and Melissa Etheridge), this one is terrific Melissa Etheridge

Tomorrow is Today is just so beautiful and the melody is just so painful but kind of comforting at the same time. It was released when he was only 21 and was about his attempted suicide.is very McCartneish, ain't it? a bit like Warm and Beautiful, the way he sings it, the melody, and even that bridge like in You Never Give Me Your Money.
Yeah, I would agree with that. I think he was heavily influenced by Paul. This is a vocal/music masterpiece He said it was heavily influenced by the Abbey Road Medley.
I could list tonnes more Macca but as this is in Band on the Run section I will give a few more by others. Stevie Nicks - Landslide Christine McVie - Songbird Noel Gallagher - The Masterplan Elvis Presley - Burning LoveForgot "Landslide" on my list--such a beautiful song and vocal performance.
Really gorgeous song!
Agreed. I saw Stevie for the first time this summer and recorded her singing "Landslide":

I get what you mean, don't worry. It gets me, too. She was in great voice that night, something I was worried about prior to the show. The rest of her set was a bit bland, all of the songs sounded eerily the same, dark and dreary . However she made up for it by saving "Landslide" for last--I had to wipe a few tears away inconspiculously after her set.

I'm glad she was in good voice for you. some of our stuff is a bit dark and dreary which like you say can be a bit repetitive. It would definitely get me going live!

She was opening for Rod Stewart and I bought the ticket to see her, not really caring for Rod. Her set was the longest hour and a half of my life. EVERY song was dreary and she sucked the life out of me. Thankfully "Landslide" brought me back up, and I have to say that as cheesy as he is, Rod did a great show.

Stevie Nicks - Landslide Christine McVie - Songbird Noel Gallagher - The Masterplan Elvis Presley - Burning LoveI thought not many liked Scenes, I like it a lot, especially the "a bottle or reds, a bottle of whites.... in a Italian restaurant" talking bout Billy Goodnight Saigon, strangely moving, (I still don't know what it means "We would all go down together" Will they all party together? with the Vietnam army?)
well... and All About Soul (very apropiate for this thread ) I can't help it Freddie Mercury and Michael Jackson (still unreleased, not for long though) There must be more to life than this Vanessa Amorosi Amazing Grace (live) she's kind of the 21st Century Janis, the end of this is terrific, from 4.10 on, I love when she goes down to the floor -
How about moving guitar solo's?
Watermelon in Easter Hay - Frank Zappa The first minute or so is just talking (relating to the album, Joe's Garage), then it's pure magic after that. -

Scenes is just sublime 21st. The 2 others you mention are great! She's Got A Way is another, Miami 2017 (Lights on Broadway) & New York State of Mind from the Concert for New York are sublime live vocals and ofcourse very moving. Judy Collins - Amazing Grace

that's it She's Got A Way live and Miami 2017 live
and I Go To Extremes, etc etc etc Past week I was teaching some chords at the piano to some friend, I played F# major and he said, that sounds like "She's Got a way", and I went... "she's got a way about her... I don't know what it is... etc" well... I have a peculiar story with one of the most moving guitar solos. I was in a karaoke and I saw the song was on the songlist and I JUST wanted to hear the solo, so I asked to sing the song. I sang the song but the solo was not at the end, it lasted only like 5 seconds, great disapointment... , just like sometimes happens often at the radio, I didn't expect it there Free Bird, from 4.56 on live -
Eric Clapton, Bell Bottom Blues

The most moving little moment on guitar ever for me, though, is quite obvious. Everybody does that with the head up and down when they hear it, I think. 4.13 Freddie wrote that solo/riff, not Brian May, Bohemian Rhapsody
-
Barcelona's album is now re-edited with orchestra instead of keyboards
but for this thread, this is the best version, kind of isolated vocals, vocals turned up so we can hear them more than before It seems like Freddie is in your room Freddie Mercury + Montserrat Caballe Barcelona (vocals louder) The Golden Boy (vocals louder) -
Love this one

Opera singers through history have often said they kind of envy certain popular singers of many differente styles because of the emotion, because of making the people feel. I watched yesterday some documentary about the Beatles concerts in Spain. Some opera tenor performed Granada, quite a popular opera number, before them, at it was booed. Then you hear The Beatles doing Twist and Shout and it's soooo different. Bjorn, a boardie. Say It To Me Now

Sarah McLachlan, Elsewhere

Are You Lonesome Tonight? Elvis.

Elvis was often lonesome, from what I have heard.
