Which songs hasn't Paul performed live from Press To Play?
-
I would love to hear "Pretty Little Head" live. Then again, I would love to hear any of the songs that so many people are so tired of hearing.
-
I know our dear Akiboh would LOVE to hear Press live - it's one of her faves. In fact, in St. Louis, she even held up a request sign. (she obviously knew he wouldn't play it, but thought it may be good for a laugh.) Well....Paul saw her sign and looked QUITE perplexed. It was classic.

"Perplexed"? Maybe she got him thinkin'. At the Nashville 2010 show, I appreciated the instrumental mix played during the pre-show DJ-set. I felt like it was an acknowledgement for fans like me.

There are three threads on here: Wings song of the day Paul song of the day Beatles song of the day Most of the songs suggested as song of the day are the hits. "Band on the run", "Let me roll it", "Get Back", "Lady Madonna" and the likes will never be song of the day for me. (I'd probably be disappointed if I was at a concert and he didn't play them). I've listened to all the Beatles albums and most of Paul's albums so many times that I can practicaly hear the whole album in my head without putting them on. Which is why I very seldom do put them on. I put on my own personal favorites: RAM, London Town, Back to the Egg, Press to Play and my own mix of Chaos/Memory tracks, and those are the albums I listen to. Sure I'd love to hear those in concert, but it's not going to happen. But not that many songs off of Press to Play would go down very well in a concert setting. Strangledhold, Only love remains and It's not true are the songs most suited for his concert set-up, I think. Angry could be an alternative for screamer-song. Not sure that Press would go down well in his current live setting. But that's just my personal view (And BTW: what's the point in having a Paul song of the day and a Beatles song of day, if Good day sunshine can be suggested for both of them....And what's the point of a Wings song of the day thread when non-wings songs are suggested as well........ )

"Angry," sadly, might be too much to ask for -- but he's shocked us before, so who knows? I remember my excitement back in '97, when it was announced during VH-1's week-long Flaming Pie promotion, that questions via an automated phone-line could be asked of Paul at the Town Hall thing he did with John Fugelsang. I called in and submitted my question, asking who/what inspired "Angry." Needless to say, my question didn't make it, and now -- in hindsight -- I know that it never stood a chance of getting picked.

He was looking at it like "Press...press what?" I like to imagine that it hit him sometime later and he thought "Press...oh! PRESS! Right there, that's it, yes!" But that's wishful thinking More importantly!!!! I want to see the video of Stranglehold pleeeeeeease!

I was at St. Louis, now I really wish Paul got the hint with the sign! I think a modern, more contemporary twist on "Press" would sound awesome. Given Paul's recent reimagination of "Heart of the Country", maybe he'd consider reimagining some other songs of his. That'd be a cool experiment. On a somewhat similar note, Audi that "Letting Go" is pretty nice. It's one of my top 3 favorite Wings songs and one of the first songs I learned to play on bass. I'd love to hear a full arrangement!

Hard to not love that song -- despite my my out-of-tune lead guitar.

Seen him play Only Love Remains in 1986 , on the TV show The Tube . I was there at the recording , he played it live and then a mimed version. The live version was broadcast , this was announced that this would be the case, on the day of recording. Had a great time chatting with Paul afterwards, and also getting his autograph.

Not to the extent of playing Angry would be a shock!

I was driving last night and "So Bad" came on the radio. I almost drove off the road when I heard it. Couldn't believe it! First time I've heard an '80s Macca tune played in a very long time. If "Pipes of Peace" material is getting radio play, then so should "Press to Play". And I'll tell ya, since this topic came up, I've been playing the heck out of the album

This entry in wikipedia sums up the glaring omissions from The McCartney Years: "Despite being comprehensive, the collection is far from definitive. Some highlights of McCartney's solo-career are notably absent from this package: only six tracks from the original Rockshow film shot during Wings' epic world tour of 1975-76 made it to The McCartney Years, along with a Wings version of a Beatles song, "Lady Madonna" originally left out of the film. Also missing are the 1973 James Paul McCartney television-special introducing Wings, live footage from the early Wings-tours, the "One Hand Clapping" rehearsal film (which would eventually be included on the deluxe and special edition DVD portions of Wings' 1973 album Band on the Run, released in November 2010) and footage from the promotional film for Wings' final album, Back to the Egg (1979). Although this compilation would have provided the perfect opportunity to focus entirely on McCartney's extensive solo-career, instead a large segment of the available disc space was dedicated to solo-versions of Beatles-songs, sometimes already available in other packages. Of McCartney's promo videos, the following are missing from this compilation: "Getting Closer", "Spin It On", "Again and Again and Again", "Old Siam, Sir", "Arrow Through Me", "Winter Rose/Love Awake" (all of which were part of the "Back To the Egg" TV Special); plus "Mary Had A Little Lamb", "Here Today", "No More Lonely Nights (Playout Version)", "Stranglehold", "Only Love Remains","Où est le Soleil ?", "The World Tonight", "Young Boy", "From a Lover to a Friend", "Your Loving Flame", "Lonely Road", "Jenny Wren", "Ever Present Past", and "Dance Tonight"."
