Do I HAVE to join Facebook?

I don't allow FB to take over my life. I pop on & off as time allows.

I do the same ... the internet is addictive even without FB ... it takes discipline and I blow it sometimes ... And if Beatnut was here, he'd have something to say ... I miss him!

Haven't spent much time on FB this week. Busy with other stuff.

I only have three friends on Facebook. I don't add people who don't like me. Assumptious, eh? And I don't feel like searching & adding my old friends or classmates. But if there is a friend request from them, I'll approve. It saddens me that Friendster (the original Facebook, in my opinion) is now obsolete. I miss those years.

I adjusted Followers on FB, so only friends may follow me & not so many weird people that I don't even know.

I am not to hip on the like and dislike buttons. It makes it sound like you have to have a strictly Either...Or opinion about things.

More pressure from colleagues to join. No way.

Matter of choice. I go on when I have time. Sometimes I'm not on for days.

I randomly picked this thread to pull out of the archives. And then it made sense to do so.
I have visited a few sites that have News stories and events with a comment section. As expected there are a wide range of subjects and people replying. Some comments were funny and amusing, some were right on, some were way out in left field and of course there were people who were rude and A-holes to everyone. For the most part; I got a kick out of these few sites. Now: They have discontinued the comments. They try and direct the comment people to Facebook.
As an update: I never joined and do not plan on joining.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I am mostly just on Facebook for several Beatles and The Fab Four tribute band pages, and to see photos & videos my daughter posts of my granddaughter. Also other friends and relatives post stuff I like to see. I respond to things, post opinions, questions, answers, but I rarely post something on my own page. Sometimes I may share something that's particularly good.
I follow The Beatles and each member separately on Twitter, along with Hugh Jackman and a couple others. That's it.
Occasionally look at Instagram to see what video Leslie Jordan has posted. He is a freaking riot! He's on the show Call Me Cat right now and he used to be on the show The Cool Kids with Vicki Lawrence and Martin Mull about a retirement home. He is exactly 12 days older than I am! (he much looks older!)

I admin (or co-admin) a few FB pages (Let's Eat Grandma Unofficial & Virginia Astley to name the two main ones) plus my own profile page, which I occasionally post on. Apart from keeping up with family and friends activities, I just don't have the time to get involved with any Beatles related pages. For any Beatles related news I go to the Steve Hoffman music forum site anyway.

I use it to connect with friends not in my area. Cheaper than long-distance. But I have been spending far too much time on it since Covid. I love watching the dog & cat videos people post. Thou YouTube has the same stuff.. I spend too much there too. Sigh.......
