9 months ticktockticktock....

I used to say yes but now I think Paul should produce himself, and prove something about what a great producer he is. Not that we don;t already know, but who's Mark Ronson really, a rock guy. why not get my guy David Kahne, I love that guy... but the best idea is that Paul just does it.
-
Surely, we don't have to wait until November. At this point, Phil Spector can produce it from his jail cell, for all I care -- I'm just ready for a new Paul McCartney record.

Yeah, McCartney through the years proved to be his own best judge ...

I would definitely say he has. WINGS first of all. and after that I like his albums where he produces most.

Ronson's a great producer (fuller, produced sound) Bob Dylan - Most Likely You Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine
Amy Winehouse - Valerie Mark Ronson - The Bike Song As is Ethan Johns (stripped back sound) The Vaccines - Teenage Icon Tom Jones - Tower of Song The album's going to be an eclectic mix, but I think it'll work well [/url] -

Not really. He needs someone to "edit" him. He has not been the best judge of what he should do...or sound like...or even the lyrics he should go with. He needs what John used to provide...a reality check.

And another quote: "It's songs I'll be able to play on stage with my band. They're sort of rocking, but there are a couple of ballads as well. [..]" From today's The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/feb/13/paul-mccartney-grammy-album?CMP=twt_gu

I've read this too...and I'm dreaming now... maybe he'll kick off new songs at the NEW tour through South America...or is too much?

I'm wondering if this will be a double album? If he did 6 songs with 4 different producers, that would be 24 tracks -- easily 2 CDs. It's definitely possible. Hell, he's been working on it long enough. Have we debated what to name this album? How about either of these -- playing on the idea of 4 different producers: Four Track Four Square I like the first one because it plays on the idea of the old four-track machines the Beatles used to record on -- four different tracks (in this case, producers) layered together to create a whole ( in this case, album). And I like the second one because it brings to mind the image of the four-square game -- one large square divided into four equal pieces. I'm probably overthinking this. Thoughts?

He could release it next year and call it 44 (44 years of being solo)

Pretty sure he self-produced all his #1's and best albums. Pretty sure

It is annoying that he has to taunt us like this. I guess I did ask for some new info on the new album but I think what I or we really meant was "gimme the goddam album now!". It is easy to get over excited, Michelley. WOA in May/June then this new piece of pop-rock wonderment in October/November? We're wishing our lives away...

Well again I compare this to how David Bowie has handled his new album. Bowie didn't say a word for 10 YEARS -- no tours, no concerts, no albums, no singles. Then he forced all of the musicians who were secretly working on his new album to sign confidentiality agreements that prohibited them from talking about their own work on the project or even that they were in the studio with him (and people call Paul a control freak!). Given the choice, I'd rather hear Paul talk openly in dribs and drabs about the new album than hear nothing at all. You know, I'm pretty confident that Paul is going to use one of my suggestions for the album title. It's definitely going to be either Four Track or Four Square.

The new album should be a double album, with some of the songs being "cold cuts" - starting with "goodbye" & other songs with Wings/solo that he never released. I think a double album blending old gems (never released) & new songs would work well with Macca.

Cant wait for the Bowie album. Love the new single. Hope he is as irreverent & groundbreaking as he was in the 70's through Scary Monsters.

Paul also talks briefly about the new album and mentions Giles Martin in a new NY Times interview: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/02/15/a-grammy-winning-formula-for-paul-mccartney-dont-show-up/
