Paul McCartney 2013 Rumours
-
I agree I don't think he chooses to and no he may not be so involved with the process that he knows about the "Maybe's" before a show is even booked. But I do think someone of his stature can get things from promoters that others could not.
-
I've given up predicting or trying to find any logic to it. The one glaring thing that stands out this year though is two shows in Tulsa, the No. 61 US media market, in the most red-neck, reactionary state in the nation----instead of other seldom-visited cities.

In 1997, the Rolling Stones performed in Albuquerque, the first time they played here since 1972. It was reported in the media they REQUESTED to perform in New Mexico because it had been so long since they played here. That night, 35,000 fans had a GREAT and UNFORGETTABLE time. The Rolling Stones are as big or bigger than Paul McCartney. That's a fact. There is NO WAY McCartney has no say or knowledge about where he performs. Maybe in the Beatles. But at this point in his career, no way.

I'm sure he has plenty of say. I just don't think he cares that much.

I think he cares. But I also think it is business and money. I understand that when the decision comes down to making $1 million in Albuquerque or $2 million in Tulsa, if it is just about business and money, you go with Tulsa. But the Rolling Stones had the grace and fan concern to say, "Let's do a show in Albuquerque, even though we could go to Las Vegas Nevada and make twice as much." I do think McCartney and Co. have the capacity to do that. I am just not sure it will ever happen. People make arguments that Paul's show is very expensive to put on. Sorry, but it is no more expensive than the Stones. The Stones have lights, sound systems, amps, guitars, drums, musicians, roadies, sound people, and video images too. They are not "cheaper." I saw the Stones. Their production values are every bit as top notch as Paul's. For now, I'll just sit back and watch the tour undfold and see what happens. We will all know in one week what it will all look like and sound like. I'm sure it will be great!

McCartney is CEO of MPL. It belies belief that he had no say/input/awareness regarding where he plays. He's a sharp operator. He knows...
-
Because he's had SO many successful financial flings in the past... :

Digital billboard spotted today, and the city has a "historical concert announcement" Monday at 10am. Hmmm. I think with the billboard it is a lock, but...... Could Paul come to the little town in simple province of Saskatchewan? Home for me

I'm a little surprised that Minneapolis is not getting the rumored July 6 date since he seems to be trying to make good on cities he passed on in 2011 (e.g. Regina).
totally!!!! Regina was a bust due to the football team (like cfl football). silly regina! fire the team, and book Macca was my thoughts! lol. Would love to see him in Minny

While driving home tonight, I saw the teaser billboard that has been posted before the concert announcements in many of the American cities, in my city of Regina, Saskatchewan! The date across the bottom was 08-14-13! I AM SO EXCITED! The closest Paul has EVER played was in Winnipeg! Apparently people in my city have been tweeting about a huge concert announcement coming soon. This BETTER be true!
YEEEAAHHHHHHH

Looks like all points west of Austin and Tulsa, except for Seattle, are not on this tour. Maybe that will change in the coming weeks.

And except for one of the largest shows he'll do in the US all year in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, very much a west coast location, with a full set before a crowd of well over 100,000...

True. Still, these festival gigs are not listed on his own web site as part of the OUT THERE tour. But yeah, he is playing San Francisco. Maybe that covers the west coast for this tour. The southwest and Rocky Mountains have yet to get a concert announcement.

I really hope that the Ottawa announcement is for July 7th and not July 27th. I just bought my son tickets to another concert on the 27th here in London so that would be a big conflict.

you are probably going to be ok. I've checked the dates at Scotiabank Place and cirque du soleil is playing on the 26 & 27. we'll found out soon enough
