I won't "save" for any concert. It's a CONCERT, not some life experience you should have to save for months or years to experience! Get real. I "save" to buy a car. I "save" to take my wife to Europe. If I have to "save" to go to a concert by ANY artist, sorry, it ain't gonna happen.
You my friend, don't get it. Life was meant to be lived and I can guarantee that if you see me at a Paul McCartney concert, you are literally looking at the happiest person on Earth. Cars are expensive. Wives are very expensive. Have fun with your "car". Have "fun" in Europe [doing...?]. I'd tell you to have fun at Paul McCartney, but I guess you won't be going.

Thought the responses to my original post were really good. Everyone made some great points. I also realize that there are different prices in different cities. NYC is the most expensive. However, there is a huge difference this time around in ticket sales. In NYC in past all McCartney tickets have sold out in hours. This time around he has two concert dates in NYC and days later you can get plenty of tickets for both nights. They just are too expensive. I saw 5 of his shows and I really admire him. But in todays world it is just too much. I have three daughters that I sent to college and all three have loans. Before I spend money on a concert I would have to help pay back their loans. By the way to the one poster, I was correct in that in Brooklyn the tickets three tiers up sell for $350. That is disgusting. Like I said, Lennon would sing, "how do you sleep at night". To the poster that said Lennon had a huge apartment and spent money on Yoko furs, that's alright. He still wouldn't do this to fans. I was always a McCartney fan and thought the person who sang about 'silly love songs' was a romantic at heart. I was wrong. He wrote songs pretty melodies that would sell. Lennon had the heart. Never thought I would think that.
You are free to think whatever you want just like anyone else. You chose to think that because you wanted to. Want to know what I think? I think there is nothing in this world one can buy with 650 dollars that brings as much joy and happiness as a Paul McCartney concert. If you play guitar you know that a $650 acoustic guitar is barely a decent guitar. It's almost crap. You could sell that piece of crap, take the money and buy a ticket that will bring so much to your life and life experience as a human, unlike anything else can for those same $650. Honestly, it's a bargain. To try and rewrite history in your mind and say McCartney dedicated his life to music for money is boarder line insanity, or just plain not thought through. Go back and think about that. I don't think you did the first time. You can think anything. We all can.

No you are wrong. The tickets to the New York show start at $69.50. Perhaps you're looking at the ripoff prices being sold by the secondhand ticket brokers. And that same thing happened in every concert Paul's done in NYC (and everywhere else). The ticket companies bought up as many of the tickets as they could get and jacked up the prices. Paul has nothing to do with that. But you're determined to blame him. Fact is, there were tickets to NYC for $69.50. And they went fast.

You are a sad, pathetic person.

Wow. The excuses some of you make why it's OK for an artist to fleece you is really sad. Now I see why McCartney can charge what he does. So many out there are willing to put it all on the line for a two hour concert by a pop star. Hey, I'm a fan. I have paid out loads of money in albums, CDs, posters, programs, t-shirts, videos, CDs, DVDs, and yes, concert tickets. No regrets. And if there were a New Mexico show, I would pay top dollar to see him here. But I am with the OP. The prices being charged are excessive. Even the WINGS OVER AMERICA deluxe edition price is ridiculous. $156 for a RE-RELEASE which has little or no pre-production, already recorded and many times released in the past. Oh well. Have a good time at the Paul McCartney concert!

I think a lot of this has to do with how much disposable income you have or are willing to go into debt for. Then it also depends on where you are in your life. A young person is more likely to throw caution to the wind while an older fan thinks about his future. No need for people to get upset with eachother for their beliefs...no matter who they blame. There are soo many variables. Inside shows, outside, my town, your town, days off school, time away from your own business. Different strokes, different folks.

Very true. I am at a place where I don't want to throw my disposable income in that direction. I could. I just don't want to. But you are correct, different strokes.

People have the right to save or spend their own money to their own choosing. Me? I chose to save up to go to a McCartney concert and visit a place I've never been to and visit a few friends while I'm at it!

Still spouting out those sour grapes, because the rumored New Mexico concert fell thru.... Get over it.

Totally agree. I am no longer willing to go in to debt for Paul. I used to do that, but no more. As for the $50 tickets, they go fast because there are not that many.

Tickets for Brooklyn are not $350 for upper tier. You are wrong. That price may be what. People are asking for on the secondary market but nothing Paul controls. All upper level tickets are priced less that $100. You need to check the prices again.

Yeah, I agree. I am willing to pay to go to a concert. But I will not go into debt to do it. If some want to, good luck with that!

.... makes me kinda sad reading this cos,.. we have posted threads here for years "please lower the ticket prices" I sorta agree and after being on the floor near the front you kinda feel spoiled.. cos it's a totally diff experience.. there... and you want to try fr those seats time and again... this tour now, I'm in debt because of the gigs I'm attending.. ops: in Vegas ..don't remember what year that was? I was in back of the floor and that tix alone was $250 years ago... oh, I can go on.. I have spent money on tix.. where the seats were poor.. what justifies those monies over $250 for rows 20 plus on... the Hollywood Bowl was no better either ha! sat at the end where the bleachers began and weren't those seats $250- $350? damnit, this thread is bumming me out~ cos there is a lining of truth to it.. what the regular board members have been saying for years~ ops: "LOWER THE TICKET PRICES" This will be my best summer ever, besides seeing Paul in Liverpool 2003 most of the gigs I'm going for "Out There" is on the card.. I did pay for 2 in Europe off.., this tour is costing me .. $$$$$ but when does a fan put the breaks on and say " Hey I'm paying too much in tix travel hotels eats and what nots"? some of us have paid $1ooo's & $1000's & $1000's for tix travel etc..... and a handful are not rich.... some have extra cash.. or save like hell.. or do without for months to do this!~ sad awwwwwww
To each their own. There is no performer in the world that I would spend that amount of money to see perform. I have seen McCartney on every tour possible since 1976. After Citifield, I had basically had enough with spending money on concerts. A year later, I relented when he came to Charlotte NC because my daughters had never seen him and thought it would be cool to share the experience. I would not go again even if he came to Charlotte NC because he will do close to the same show I have seen years ago and it is not worth the money.Heck, he is even telling the same stories. It is great that McCartney has passionate fans like yourself but as the song title said "Ive Had Enough" - lol

This is also a GIANT part of the equation. I'd love to know the setlist.

omg I would rather save money to support Paul than anything on earth! All that other crap is fleeting (cars? lol evil) or will be there later (Europe VERY OLD will be around awhile) but Paul is special! Beatle Paul! Only one!! And Ringo lol! I owe those guys so much, they made my life so great! I try always to vote with my dollar to support the arts. It pays me in ways nobody can equal. What price magic?
