Anyone here living in the country and loving it?

i live in the country & love it! No constantly hearing sirens at all times of day or night. Smaller cities are around 15-20 min. drive, Peaceful, quiet, great place to raise a family.
Yeah, I love Pennsylvania. It's a great place.

I would love to be in the country right now, sitting on the wrap around front porch or back deck, sipping on a mint julep. No, wait! I'm getting no more drinks or sweets until I lose the 10. Darn it! :

Since we have a creek that runs through the back of our yard, we get all kinds of great wildlife in our yard. We buy sacks of corn & put it out under the big maple tree in our yard & enjoy seeing deer, ducks & bunnies enjoying the corn.

Around here, off to the country is either a barren desert or active oil field. Or both.

I live in a very small town. Our subdivision was annexed to the "city" about 10 years ago. It had been a farm until then, although probably not the most productive as the soil is made of a lot of clay. Having lived most of my life in the city, it has been a major adjustment. It's quiet. We have a general store, a gas station with convenience store, post office with limited hours, two bars, full service gas station, two banks and two churches. We have no stop lights and few stop signs. The high school for the area is located here as is an elementary school. My house is 4 years old, but there are homes here that are 100 years old.

Cool. I used to feed the deer as well as the pet goats. I was the 'Corn Goddess.' The goats would run up to me in the mornings and the afternoons to get some corn and they would fawn all over me. There were also a few springs on the property. We made homemade beer and would bottle it and place it at the bottom of one of the springs in the water to stay cool. After a walk around the woods, you could stop and open a bottle of beer and enjoy the scenery. Nice memories.

I'm glad to be living in town presently. Got tired of all the bugs biting me and in the winter the field mice moving in and raising a ruckus.

The only thing I hate about living in the country are those horrid stink bugs!
