that was a young American lass who had been coughing all night just before the nutter.
Yup. That was meeee! I wish I knew who you were! I was already pretty sick with my cough so I probably should not have been out there, but it's Paul McCartney! So who cares! And going about this whole topic of the backlash on Paul and HMV - we arrived in line at 1:30PM on Thursday and were about 20th in line. Multiple times the HMV managers let us know that no one was guaranteed entry at all, your chances are just higher if you are further up in line. There were also rumors going up and down the queue that he was going to be there for an hour/will only sign the first 100. If everyone read Paul's twitter (and I hope if they are willing to camp out on a street for him, they do read it), they would know that there were 60 VIP wristbands that would be going before us. It was very clear to everyone what was going on, yet people still believe that they have a right to throw a tantrum about it. I would be devastated if I wasn't able to meet him after all that, but if I was 60th or 70th in line, I would know my chances are pretty risky. Maybe it could have been handled better, but I do believe everyone was at least pretty well informed of what was going on. With that being said, it was a very long 27 hours, but also one of the best experiences of my life. To all those on here I may have spoke with or spent the night on Oxford with, what an exciting time! So glad to have spent it with everyone, and I hope to see you all sometime camping out for another Paul event or at a concert or something!

Haha I know, I saw the pics! I was actually saying to Paul "You can keep singing with him if you want! Please do!" during that pic I'm also 'featured' in two videos that are of Paul and Phil singing back and forth. Never been so happy to be in front of him, now that I can see these pics/vids and remember what a great moment it was!

Lol moments to treasure. supposed you spent a fortune calling home and telling all lass.

Well we were supposed to fly home on Wednesday, but changed our flight to Saturday because of this - luckily we had WiFi so we could save some $$ on calling everyone! I will say though, I slept my entire 8 hour flight from London to US - fell asleep before we even took off! Absolutely a moment to treasure. Such an amazing, and miserable at times (sleeping on cardboard boxes in the freeeeezing early morning!) 30 hours! Would do it again in a heartbeat though

oh all those hours on the street then 8 hours in the air. ouch.

Does anybody think that Ringo would do a signing like this in the UK ? Would people camp out over night etc to see him and get his autograph ? I wonder if he does stuff like this in the States ?
He's unveiling the deluxe version of his book in LA on Wednesday, but it's not a signing. You won't be able to meet him unless you pay for the super-duper-high-stakes package. http://www.amoeba.com/blog/2013/10/amoeba-music/ringo-starr-s-photograph-book-launch-events-in-hollywood-october-23.html?utm_source=101513Newsletter&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=Whats+New&utm_campaign=Ringo+Starr parlance

So he signed for about 111 people? Is that right?
think he signed less , because a guy was saying he was number 50 (reserve) and didn't make it and also 6 people ahead of him, so I think Paul did only 60 winners + 42 on the reserve
AMRossi said she/he was #58 in the reserve line and when there were 7 people ahead of her/him, they stopped the signing. So 58-8=50+60=110. Forgot to include AMRossi in my original count. Who know the true #? All I know is that he should have signed a lot more!

We were about 20th in the queue, and about 10 minutes after we had been signed and left HMV, he was leaving the building. So with the 60 VIP winners in front of us, my guess was about 90-110.

Somebody tweeted to me how gutted they were about sleeping out in the cold and not getting a signed CD. @hmvtweets @LawsonOfficial just remember fans nothing is guaranteed, I lined up for over 24hrs #McCartney & got nothing signed #wrong @xxxxxxx How long did @PaulMcCartney sign? I've never done this because of hearing of bad experiences. @xxxxxxxx @PaulMcCartney a mere 55 minutes, he did the 60 gold wristband winners, and only 30+ of us who stayed overnight 24hrs #Gutted

I think they got it wrong, i was approx 26 in the queue, 5 more got signed behind me and then Paul left so i recon in total he signed about 91-95 signatures, he defiantely didnt sign 51 reserves only about 31 maximum

I was only about 3 people behind you, didnt get any sleep so say listening to you cough all night! Was a great experience and made some good friends in the queue

I was very lucky this time as I got a gold wristband. Up until winning the band I contemplated the sleeping over night etc but because there was a competition involved I decided it was just too risky. I also probably wouldn't have got there until Thursday lunchtime or around that time coming from the North which I thought that would probably be too late. I went to the Virgin signing in 2006 and that was great experience you meet loads of people in the line etc. It wasn't a competition either just first there first served so to speak. I slept on the pavement with my lad and we were there about 36 hours till we met Paul. On that day he must have signed hundreds as he was in there signing solidly for at least 2 hours probably more. We were told that time that he wouldn't do dedications and he would only sign the classical CD or his DVD or both nothing else etc. People were rushed through in 2006 hardly time to say anything however this time the line moved a lot slower especially as some people seemed to say a lot to him. Hopefully those that didn't get to him had been able to see him at Covent Garden because I would have gone to London on that alone.

This was the signing that I waited a mere 8 hours to get into where security kept saying "you will get in but not the people behind you so stick around." 20 people ahead of me when my group was sent home, but that queue outside streched around the block so I would have to agree anyone who did camp out overnight got an autograph. Seems like if one wants to meet McCartney, it needs to be a camping experience.

Doubt that would ever happen, tho. I do give HMV credit for getting one thing right this time; they said right from the start that the only guaranteed signatures would be for the 60 competition winners. So even the very first person in the reserve queue was taking a chance by kipping out overnight. At the signing I attended, HMV kept changing things around as they kept giving out more and more bands over the course of 24 hours: wristbands guaranteed a signature; wristbands only guaranteed you entrance into the store; wristbands guaranteed nothing. Wristbands were also numbered but they never honored the numbers, so there was lots of queue-jumping. Right mess.
