Bogey Music - My covers and own songs
-
Hello, Since some time I try to record at home, as a one man band project named "Bogey Music" I'd like to show you my two covers: The Beatles - "Blackbird":
Paul McCartney - "That would be something": Please tell me what do you think about it. -
BEAUTIFUL!!!
-
Thank you, glad you like it!
-
Listened to That Would Be Something Very fine recording and well played - but too close to the original to mean anything - even cutting off mid-bass-line at the end, which is both impressive and slavishly uninspired at the same time ...
-
You know, I listen covers on youtube, soundcloud etc. and people largely do covers like oryginal. To me it makes no sense and I just try to do something different with each song, play it in my own version and I think it's not too close to the oryginal. "That would be something" I play main riff a little otherwise, and first of all I added my own some gutiars theme in the middle of the song, which isn't in oryginal. End of the song was spontaneous. Thanks for your feedback.
-
I sure think Paul would like them. Very nice indeed!
-
Thank you, Paul certainly still listen them now

very nice. I enjoyed them. I also enjoyed the ones by Ymaginatif.
-
You're very talented. Thank you for sharing your covers with us.
-
Thanks, you are very kind
-
Those were very beautiful! "That Would Be Something" I had to really listen to make sure it was NOT Paul's voice. "Blackbird" was very lovely as well.

Glad you think that way too - and your intro of Blackbird sort of proves that point! Still, on a scale of 100 of possible deviation from the original, to me you sound about 4 or 5 away from the record. (which in itself is quite a feat which I am absolutely not capable of!). But there's a whole lot more box to think outside of! Actually, I don't think your voice sounds like Paul McCartney's - it's sweeter and a whole lot less plummy. In fact, I think you'd make a very good R&B/Soul voice.
-
Thank you for yours opinions, this is important to me. hey_kittay: you are very nice, thank you! I don't think so my voice sounds like Paul McCartney's. I don't consider myself as a singer at all. I always only play instruments and start singing just now in this project. I hear false vocal moments in my covers and "blurred" english words (I know only little english), but I can't fix it in recording process again and again

You are right but at this moment I can't think more outside of Soon I will present you my new covers - The Beatles "Long long long" and Paul's "On the way".

Love 'On The Way', I look forward to that. those are great covers, and I shall now battle you in a battle of Beatles cover wits! by posting my own Blackbird, in which I tag on a 'Her Majesty' if you can stick with it long enough, and then I try my hand at Mother Nature's Son, written by the great Paul, covered by the great Harry Nilsson, and as so I give my own rendition. The battles on my friend Blackbird/Her Majesty
Mother Nature?s Son kidding, thats all I've ever done and yours are way better produced. You do some great guitar obviously on That Would Be Something, and also some nice bass accents -
Hi, thanks, I like yours covers too, Mother Nature?s Son is funny Battle? Here's my cover of "Blackbird" playing live:
My two covers, links to which I gave at the beginning, was recorded at home, with DAW on notebook and hardware audio interface. PS. I'm from 1977 too -

I'm from 1977 tooSame age! thats hilarious, 77 was a great year nah my demos don't compare to yours, you do good work in that home studio. I'm just messing around. I want to hear your originals btw, you got some some where? thats where you learn about the artist I have a take of me doing Wings's 'My Baby's Request' somewhere, I'll dig it out and post it at some point, to even up with your out-door Blackbird battle wages on my friend. I'll do more if you keep this up yeah Mother Natures is funny though, I fuck up one whole section of that song. all 1st takes though, from hazy memory

About originals - I have quite a few my own ideas, but for this time I didn't record anything of it. You know, I started my home recording quite recently and for now I'm just learning about this by covers recording. But for circa a month I will start to record my own songs. "Baby's Request" is great song, go on You know, I do this covers just for fun and pleasure, there is not any battle
-
And here's my vision of "Long, Long, Long" The Beatles:
-
I like your rendition of Long Long Long, very emotive. Why did you choose that song, any specific reason? Here's my version of My Baby's Request, from Back To The Egg. I've always loved the song (I took jazz in college and can really appreciate that style of writing, and sort of gravitate to it naturally), and actually wanted to pick it out as a song I could play to my kids when trying to get them to bed. I learned that one, and also did a slow soft version of Till There Was You. and I would play Junk too, lots of Macca. anyway in this clip my two sons are 4 and 2 yrs old, it was good fun, hope you enjoy.
and then I went on to write this song, which I think I could fairly say was largely inspired by My Baby's Request, or at least written coming from that same type of jazzy place. This is an original called Lunacy -
I choose "Long, Long, Long" without special reason, just I like this song. "Baby's Request" is really nice and funny Your original is great too, I like it, but it needs better production, that would be very improved.
