Paul's 2004 Weeks on the UK Album Chart ?
-
I knew he was getting close to becoming the first artist to spend more than 2000 weeks on the UK Album chart if you combined his Beatles weeks with his Solo/Wings weeks . I double checked my figures so I hope I am right The Beatles 1404 weeks Paul McCartney/Wings 600 weeks Total 2004 weeks combined

Is that the top 30? 40? 100?

The figures are based on the official top 75 UK Album Chart . And according to my adding up he's now past 2000 weeks if you combined The Beatles and his Solo/Wings weeks . Acts like Paul Simon , Michael Jackson who were also part of either a duo or group still fall well short of 2000 weeks . Its a record that will be hard to match as Paul and The Beatles will continue to add to their weeks and he's about 300 weeks in front of MJ

That's more than 38 1/2 years! If accurate, that's downright unbelievable!
-
To put it in perspective, Paul has been putting out albums for 50 years. In that entire time span, a Paul album has been on the charts 80% of the time (approx. 40 years). Mind-boggling!!
-
Add in songs he wrote that were recorded by other people, and cover versions and the total will be even higher
-
I had heard a similar figure for the U.S. charts (something like 38 years)
-
Based on those numbers, how about an award celebrating that achievement and presented to Paul at the next Billboard Music Awards? And, of course, a couple of songs from NEW. Paul really needs to hire me for his P.R. team.

I'll have to look it up, but was wondering if something like Sgt Pepper or Abbey Road or Band on the Run has had any 'Floydian' Dark Side of the Moon like run in the charts...I know the more recent release of the Beatles One ran the charts for more than a year I mention Pink Floyd's DSOFM only because that album seems to be the measuring stick for long chart runs (based on very loose, not very in depth research on my part...LOL)

Thanks. From 'Please Please Me' to 'New', that's a very impressive 50 year run.

Since you brought it up I had to check...Dark Side of the Moon holds the US record for weeks in the charts as of today at 1,630 weeks or just over 31 years! In the UK it is Bob Marley and the Wailers Legend album at 822 weeks or just under 16 years total. The Beatles are nowhere to be found in either country's charts for longest running album, though they do hold the record for the most weeks at Number One in the UK. But the artist with the most Number One and Top Ten Albums overall in the US is...Paul McCartney (includes Beatles, Wings, and Solo)!
