McCartney Concert Tour Breakdown

I think maybe the increase in his appearances may also have something to do with simply getting older, becoming more aware, as most of us do, of his own mortality, and how quickly time is passing. He also seems concerned with his place in history, wanting to make sure he is not forgotten, and that he gets recognition. I remember first thinking this back when he was in his fifties. I'm sure the deaths of Linda and George, and others, made him even more aware that our time isn't unlimited. We get to that certain age, and suddenly memories really are "longer than the road that stretches out ahead."
I believe you are right. He's enjoying the time he has left as much as possible, and doing a great job at that. Someone has called him "a modern miracle", and I can't disagree.

A thought that occurred to me today. It's great that Macca is still healthy enough to tour - especially considering he was born the same year as my father, but that won't last forever. He obviously loves performing but a time may come where the travel may become more of an issue. I wonder if when that day comes if he will consider something similar to what Billy Joel is doing now and having a residency somewhere close to home. Hopefully this is a ways off, but the thought crossed my mind. RamblinRed

I have thought the same thing. If he did, it would be New York and/or London, I'd reckon.

Or Vegas?

Elton John's residency in Vegas is first class. If Paul did it that way (intimate venue), great sound, etc., tickets would be even more expensive than they are no.
-
Not sure I can imagine Paul setting up shop in Vegas.
-
I can't see Vegas. If it happened at some point in the future then either/or NY and London make sense. He spends a fair bit of time in NY (and Nancy is from there) and i wonder if most of his time in England these days in more in London rather than up in Scotland. RamblinRed

I could see him doing a once a month gig at the Royal Albert Hall. But I would not object to a NY residency!!

Thanks for the hard work! 2002 + also marks the period he started up with the current band. Rusty, Brian, Abe, Wix really compliment Paul well. Of course Wix has toured with him pre-2002. Amazing that these guys give up their lives to tour whenever Paul decides to hit the road.
It's a musicians dream job! Getting tons of money to PLAY with Paul, not just stand and watch! Imagine if Paul paid you 15,000 to just stand in the front row during the show, and gives you a room at the Four Seasons, and transportation and food- for every show. Well their gig is even better than that because they get to PLAY with him. Not such a bad life. What else are they going to do?

And Elton still tours the world in addition to the residency in Vegas.

As long as they are happy!

They really do commpliment him well and it would be a dream for any musician to be able to tour with him I'd think.
