Camera Question
-
I've seen some awesome pics on this website that fans took with point and shoot digital cameras. I sat in the 3rd or 4th row in Tulsa last year and the pic below was the best my zoom would do. Does anyone have any suggestions of a better point and shoot camera for taking pictures at a concert? http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn278/SBLipe/Paul%20McCartney%20-%20Tulsa%20-%202013/May292013039.jpg

I have a Panasonic Lumix camera I used last summer and was super happy with results. My pics came out clear as well as the video I took. I will look at exact model number when I get home from work tonight for you. The pic in my icon is one I took with it.

GREAT question. I've been searching forever for a good P&S camera. I have a Nikon right now. I forget the model of it. But it works okay. But as long as someone on stage is moving, it turns out blurry. The subject has to be super still. I've Googled and read over so many camera forums but I cant ever find anything saying it's GREAT for concerts. So yes...I too would like some info on better P&S cameras for concert use. Here are a few of mine https//www.flickr.com/photos/rockandroll/3827970664/in/set-72157621933040107

I'm pretty happy with my Canon PowerShot. Be sure to shop around. I got a good deal on a refurbished one.

from what I understand you have named the top two when it comes to P&S camera's..I had a cannon and loved it...

For the last year's Warsaw concert I used Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ18. I was in the 4th row and the results were well... pretty stunning. I can highly recommend this camera (which I have now upgraded to Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ35). Below are some samples images: ...and at the 'far-away' piano:

Here are a couple of pictures I took from the 3rd row in Seattle: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7295/9337850219_15d44e079f_b.jpg http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3704/9338110013_61f24fb9b9_b.jpg I used a Sony DSC-HX30V. Nice little point & shoot camera with a great zoom (20x optical). I'm pretty sure they now make a 50V model with a 30x zoom. Just make sure you spot meter off Paul's face to get the lighting right. Here's a link to the full set if you're interested: http://flic.kr/s/aHsjH11mNJ

all very nice...

Great pics! And thanks for the link to the rest of the photos bigmark.

As promised: I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200. I've used it all over the place and really like the results. Here are a few pics I took July of last year.

That's what I used a year ago in Memphis from the 4th row: (SD750 Digital ELPH) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/njr/Paul%20McCartney%20and%20The%20Beatles/IMG_1911_zps015ce15f.jpg I bought a new Canon Powershot that I will be using in Atlanta in June. It's an ELPH 520 HS with 12x zoom (the other was only 3x zoom)

Thanks oobu! Yes it has a 24x zoom. I also used this at a Sting concert last year from pretty far away and the pics turns out well even from a far.

So many of these cameras look to be very intimidating. I should get a new one way in advance of the show...which he hasn't even announced yet (for my city).

This one has lots of settings and features but I got the hang of it pretty quick. The sting concert was before the Paul concert last year so that gave me some practice lol. I found myself using this more on vacations/holidays and not carrying around my slr I've had for years.
