That is annoying, sorry that happened to you. Did you access the presale thru Paul's website, here? His presales are all run by Crowdsurge so perhaps you can ask them why they were unable to get a better setting chart for buyers to use?
I would really like to hear their answer!
CrowdSurge basically told me they can't do anything about. But I have good news: the general sale for the second concert in Santiago opened today through the local ticket seller (not CrowdSurge) and I was able to select the exact seat that I wanted: front row center of the Platinum sector, which means the 11th Row from the stage, and it cost half the price of the first 5 rows!
I guess crowdsurge feels that they don't have to do anything about it because the tickets sell. Glad to hear you finally got to choose the EXACT seat that you wanted!

This is one of my pet peeves and comes up every time I buy a ticket. I have been fortunate enough to go the VIP route for the last several shows I've attended. The last one, in Tulsa, I bought front row VIP, and since I was online and purchased very quickly after the sale opened, I assumed my seat would be close to the center section. (They don't ever sell front row center through the VIP packages.) There was no way to tell if the numbering scheme went from right to left or left to right. When I got to the concert, I found that my seat was all the way at the end of the front row (farthest from the center section). Although I realize it is a fabulous ticket, regardless, it is a little irritating not to be able to see what you are buying when you are spending that kind of money. Had I known, I likely would have chosen to go to the next layer of VIP tickets with hopes of getting the center section. Maybe that's why they do it that way......

The pre-sale earlier today for Uruguay was a little better than the previous ones, as it provided more info. The system still did not allow me to choose a seat, but at least it offered a sector close to the center area, so I was able to get third row. This is the seating map from the local ticket seller (which I used as a reference during the CrowdSurge pre-sale): And this is the seating map from CrowdSurge (which I ignored):

How are you supposed to see anything on VIP A or G? lol

Indeed, I'm learning new tricks with each pre-sale. Also, even though I'm complaing about seating maps by CrowdSurge, I am also aware of the "big picture": 1) I'm grateful that these pre-sales allow foreign fans to buy tickets 2) I'm even more grateful that Paul is returning to Latin America 3) I'm glad to have reserved seats, which are never offered in Brazil I'm aware that thousands of fans are desperate for McCartney concerts in their countries, and I don't want to appear ungrateful. I'm just trying to show CrowdSurge that there is room for improvement, which would benefit fans all over the world. I'm also hoping that these posts of mine will be helpful for fans who will buy McCartney tickets during upcoming CrowdSurge pre-sales. My advice: do not rely just on the CrowdSurge seating map, always look for an alternate map from the local ticket seller.

I don't take it as you are complaining about anything except that you would like to know where you are going to be sitting before you spend a lot of money for the seats. Sounds very reasonable to me. I'm glad you are getting some information from the local ticket seller.

Thanks, I hope Paul will announce a US tour soon. I bet there will be some West Coast shows this time. And I wish you the best of luck when buying tickets online!

I have not purchased tickets through CrowdSurege for concerts when I was only told price range and section. There have been some shows in US where the message is something to effect seats will be allocated. Forget that.

I had a similar experience and came up with the same conclusion.

I can not spend my hard earned $ if I do not know where the seat is. I do not want to be 20 rows back on the floor, but I would probably consider 10 rows center section.

Hopefully the upcoming concerts in the US, Japan and South Korea will ne handled in a different manner.

I bought presale tix using Crowdsurge twice, once for a US show and once for a Canadian show. Both times I could see the exact seat number and row before purchasing the ticket. For the Canadian show, I was able to get the exact section I was hoping to buy, too. What I don't like about them is how incredibly slow they are in sending the tickets out.

Some venues on Ticketmaster use an interactive detailed seating chart, but not many. From the last time McCartney tickets went on sale for the US some charts showed sections and some showed rows in letters or numbers but not many at all showed seat numbers.

I bought my Ringo Starr and Cheap Trick tickets for Albuquerque from Ticketmaster and was able to choose my seats from a detailed map, no problem. Not sure what is up with Crowdsurge.
-
I hope ticketmaster keeps using the interactive maps going forward, it would make life much easier

I have noticed that on the first day that tickets to a high-demand concert (or sports event, such as playoff tickets) go on sale, when it is very busy with lots of people trying to buy, TM usually does not load the interactive maps.
