Things I Would Love to See At McCartney Concert
-
They know nobody would buy expensive front row seats at the extreme sides of the stage on purpose, so they give them to those who pay $2,000 for a Front Row package. I would never do it, and I suggest everyone else do the same. That should teach those greedy folks a lesson.
-
For $2000 I better be able to pick my EXACT seat and location!! If not, I would just buy a seat in the stands with a bird's eye view of the action. "Front Row" obviously can mean many things, like being right in front of Paul, or right in front of a giant screen you have to crane your neck back to see. Both two very different situations. For me, front row for high money would mean that area extending from Rusty to Brian. End of story.
-
What I really want is, "front row amateur photographer seats". Who ever buy this special seat, you get 15 min of time that you can shoot Paul from front row section. After that you go back to your own seat.

If they did that, it would cost about $1000 for that 15 minutes!

I know this would not happen but here goes: 1) Change the entrance of McCartney for the concert. On the huge video screen, show Ellen Degeneres's funny introduction (IMO) of McCartney at the Grammy awards several years ago. Ellen walked to the mike and simply said "The next performer needs no introduction" and left. At this moment, McCartney could walk alone to the center of the stage and "soak it all in" from the crowd. After a minute, have the band come up to join him and start the concert. 2) Actually introduce the members of his band by name. I keep hearing that 90% of the crowd are first timers so they really probably don't know who the guys are in his band. Is it the hard for McCartney to do the basic, "On drums ,Abe Lionel" etc 3) Say more then this is a new song when playing something from "New". Tell the crowd a little something about the song and make it sound like you really like your new music. 4) Sell "New" at the souvenir stands, my goodness that is just common business sense. 5) Get rid of that "magic" piano, the 60's colors just looks plain dumb to me. 6) Move "Yesterday" to the acoustic part of the set list. IMO- it does not work in the encore.
I figured I would add seeing McCartney play drums in concert just because I never have seen him actually play them.

I have! London 1993 on "Ain't No Sunshine." It was a very nice change of pace! Here's a really horrible video of it I found (no, not mine):

I remeber in Manchester, I was front row and had a similiar seat...I was the last two seats before the side stands. And that was more expensive. I never bother with front row anymore

Wow. I was going to make a sarcastic joke, but it is not necessary. Why on earth don't they make the sound check package seats be the ten rows right in front of Paul? Seems fair for $1500. Even if you were set back a bit, a direct front view of Paul would beat this any day.
^^^Thank goodness I had a new camera & it did a very nice job! I posted a few over here: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=86202&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=990
NICE photos!

I'd really just like to see him wave at the crowd like how he does when arriving at sound check. I debated paying the extra $500 just to catch the wave..........its really something for an old Beatlemanic to see him wave to everyone like a long lost friend.

Thanks, video was still good enough to see him play a bit which was cool.

Things I would love to see at a McCartney Concert? Absolutely anything. Play anywhere within a 1000km radius of here and I guarantee that no one will complain about the songs, lights, costumes, whatnot.

I'm sure you're right about that! Hope it happens one of these days for you.

Let me add another, it would be cool to see his son James join him on a song.

See below from article about aging rockers still touring - lol. "At 72, Macca is hipper now than he was at various points during his tenure with Wings: new marriage, new album (named New no less) featuring Mark Ronson, newly rescheduled tour dates for his Out There stadium tour this fall. Don't worry, he still plays all the old Beatle favorites while wearing a tidy suit and telling the same jokes in every town."
