'Mull Of Kintyre' whitewashed from pop history

I bought the 45 at Virgin Records in London in 1993!

SusyLuvsPaul:
Is it played more in those U.S. pubs that love Irish music during the time of St. Patrick's Day holiday period?
probably not, since the song is about Scotland... and as for Mull being a hit in the US, it may have gotten FM airplay, but as I recall, the "hits" stations at the time were told to flip the single and give "Girls School" the airplay as the "A" Side, instead. I think Paul just felt that Mull was too "Scottish" for the US and I think he still feels that way, which is why he never plays it for American audiences. I have seen him perform the song live about 8 times---3 times in Scotland and the rest in Canada...which BTW, he does play it there but I don't think he's played it in Quebec, ever.

"about Scotland" ops: ops: ops: I knew that...the song has an Irish music feel to it, to me, reminds me of "Oh Danny Boy" a little ops:

I remember buying it the day it was released in the UK and later on when someone bought either the 25000 or 50000 or the million copy I can't rembere which the person was awarded a gift to meet Paul or Denny. I'm sure a few years ago this forum site had some pictures of a young lad meeting him as I think either a friend or maybe the lad himself was on here . I was always jealous of this my logic was real fans bought it the day it came out or as soon as they could afford it

I'd like Paul to record an album of Irish folk music and he could brush up on history and even pen some original songs in this genre to add to traditional classics and lesser known examples of this lovely stirring music And have fiddles on it

You could always go back and have a listen to Rudolph the Red Nose Reggae if that's you thing

No that's not "my thing" (Rudolph)-- I wouldn't compare that red nose thingie with wonderful Irish music. You're obviously not a fan of that. (Macca's got a lot of Irish in him so that made me think of this too)

^^^You are indeed correct
