That country bumpkin guest speaker at Bible study aggravated me with his calling Paris "The country of Paris" and saying the Devil should be blamed for the brutal Paris attacks, not terrorists. I'd say the terrorists were responsible, wouldn't you? Also annoyed by his asking "Are your bags packed?" with a coy obnoxious grin. He was referring to "the Rapture" when a privileged few will be "took up" while many are left behind. Reminded me of disliking formal religion for insisting it's the "only way." I don't think God would be like that, and don't take Revelations literally, but as a metaphor. And think Satan is a metaphor. They take the entire Bible as revealed utter and total truth. I don't but I say nothing, wanting to attend Thanksgiving dinner at church tonight, also not wanting to upset believers with my point of view. Certain things about Christianity rub me the wrong way. I'm only a nominal Christian in some ways. But still, there is enough depth and meaning to it that I participate, to an extent.

Susy... Thee actual originals taught love and peace and understanding through higher and objective education. These conservative bible thumpers are actually apostate(fallen Christians) and their self righteous judgemental attitudes only make true worshippers look bad and invite bad feelings toward Christians. They were pointed out in Timothy... 1 Timothy 1:6 4Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: [so do]. 5Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and [of] a good conscience, and [of] faith unfeigned: 6From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm. 8But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully;

Thanks, SurSteven. I didn't like it when that speaker started yelling. I felt he was trying to brainwash us. He got in an indirect dig at President Obama when he referred to not having the right "leadership." I noticed the same in prayer meeting recently. I don't feel comfortable at such times, don't they know about separation of church and state? Why can't they keep politics out of it? They ought to realize some church members are Democrats. Even in the South.

Very meaningful. Again, thank you.

The exact same thing can be said of Muslim terrorists in relation to Islam.

People always want to blame someone else. That's human nature. I'm not responsible, it's religion, TV, video games, Obama, Bush, Satan. If you blow up a school or bus, you are 100% responsible for your actions.

That is precisely correct. True Christians and True Muslims are inclined to be law abiding respectful and loving understanding individuals. What good people all over the earth have to deal with is that small percentage of people in all groups that want to perpetuate violence and war with more violence and war.
