Set List critique

RMartinez:
The problem with a song like Martha My Dear is, like Another Girl, it wasn't a hit, so even if Paul does it live, it will last one or two shows then disappear.
Have to disagree...there are several songs in the current setlist that weren't "hits" but remain...both solo and Beatles.

I just don't understand why "Benefit of Mr. Kite" remains. The reaction in the audience is pretty lame. "All Together Now" goes over great; just a fun little tune. I could use more Wings tunes; the crowds last year went bonkers over Listen To What The Man Said and 1985 and Another Day and Let Me Roll It, etc.
Best part about Mr. Kite is Paul's bass playing. Fabulous.
-
Martha My Dear is a beautiful song, but it won't really work in live in my opinion

You could say that about many songs Mr. McCartney plays bass - lol.

Ha! I mean that during this song, his bass playing is extra-special. Have you watched him closely during this song?
-
Yeah, I've heard Paul McCartney is a pretty good bass player!

But there are stacks of songs: b sides, deep album cuts that weren't officially hits, that he does and keeps in the set.

Ok, but what about Another Girl? Why is it already gone? To be fair, maybe it will return in the UK and Europe. I LOVE Martha My Dear. I would be surprised if it became a staple. Look at Your Mother Should Know.

Regarding "Another Girl", just my opinion by I think Paul may have thought that show (Budokan) was "special"...as was Candlestick, and his return in Albany. Each of those shows included special additions not included in the normal setlists.

I look at it this way. Glad we got camera phones and You Tube. I see your point but we aren't sure if Another Girl resurfaces elsewhere. Still early in the piece for that.
-
Believe me, I am very PRO-Martha My Dear! Here I am performing it with a Mariachi a few years ago, if we can learn it, surely Paul and his band can do it!!
-
I don't think we've seen the last of "Another Girl"...

Couldn't agree more. It shows that he can still nail a complicated, yet melodious, bass-line. Whenever I have doubts on whether or not McCartney could play the bass-line to "Take It Away" while singing lead, I just recall his recent "Mr. Kite" performances.
