Believe me, I am very PRO-Martha My Dear! Here I am performing it with a Mariachi a few years ago, if we can learn it, surely Paul and his band can do it!!
Nice job RM! Gotta love the baby crying sorta in tune w the strings! I love los Mariachi got any more?
Thanks! Yes, here we are in LA doing Can't Buy Me Love and Taxman:
So much fun! Very clever arrangements I enjoyed those!
yes! very nice!

Thanks for the nice comments! I didn't mean to high jack the thread. I do think Martha My Dear would be a great addition, just like Another Girl. I hope it happens!

Can't wait to see them in July... However, I belong to 2 U2 forums, and they're bitching about the setlist McCartney usually gets the same generic review

Just realized again how epic 'The Word' into 'All You Need Is Love' into those iconic last 'She Loves You' notes was. Will never forget that debut night. Why those things are territory exclusives, we will never know.

Would love for him to bring "The Word" and "Another Girl" back for the upcoming European and U.S. legs.

Not enough deep cuts; only 3 songs from the 90s; little variety from night to night. The tour is called "Innocence and Experience" and the original belief was that (they play 2 nights in each city) the first night is Innocence-themed songs and the second is Experience-themed. Now, they do two sets joined by an intermission- the first set an intense meditation on innocence, 6 minute intermission, and then a second set with the hits/more fun songs. I'm just psyched to see them. Bono levitates inside an LED screen. Yes that happens.

I got tired of U2 hogging everything all the time, though and he sounds bombastic, so loud, when he sings (bono)

Yeah, I don't give them much hope to make it big.

U2 used to make more changes to their set lists from show to show, but they still do it more than Paul does. They also tend feature their new material prominently when they tour, which is what I look forward to hearing.

I read a comment about there 2nd night shown in Canada last week that they dropped 'i still havent found what im looking for' and there were too many new songs. Fair play to them for changing it around, I would love to see them live at some point.

Yeah, I think one change was to replace one new song with another. I think the complaints are ridiculous. U2 clearly are not ready to be a greatest hits nostalgia act, good for them.

This is why it serves oneself to LISTEN to artists' current records prior to seeing them live. I have little interest in musicians who rest on their laurels and scoff at keeping things fresh and interesting. Bands have an obligation to give their audiences a good show, but I also believe that audiences have an obligation, too.

If you don't listen to the new record from artist before show, at least give the music you don't know a chance. (bathroom break etc) I also have no interest in bands like The Who who basically died creatively 30 something years ago. It saddens me that these bands/artists still can make millions resting on their laurels. Just curious Audi, want obligation do you think audiences have at concert?

We are obligated to be astute music lovers; we owe it to musicians to show them respect by buying their latest records and listening to them.

Tina Turner said in 1993: "I'd much prefer that people listen to my records -- and then get involved with my show." She proved tour-after-tour that a stadium's attention could be held with a show consisting largely of newer songs, mixed with the reliable classics.

Saw Tina in the 70's in Las Vegas (yep with Ike Turner) and it was amazing. Saw her solo act in the 80's and she was fantastic and did all her new hits. The crowd loved the new solo songs as much as the classic Ike and Tina stuff.

Well I guess the majority of Mr. McCartney's audience are not astute music lovers - lol.

Unfortunately, compared to Clapton audiences or Neil Young crowds -- or even Neil Finn crowds -- that is true.
