Songs You Would Like Paul to Cover
-
Does anybody really think Paul would do a cover of somebody else's song in concert? He never did Till There Was You or A Taste Of Honey even, did he?

"Till There Was You" was performed during the 2005 US Tour, it was beautiful!

I missed the 2005 tour! Listen to this video of Paul singing Till There Was You (live) at the Royal Command Variety Performance in 1963. Sublime! And the way he holds the note at the end...so sad he had to get old and his voice went downhill so much! (but 10 years ago he could still pull it off!) http://www.bing.com/search?q=till+there+was+you&form=PRHPCS&pc=HPDTDFJS&mkt=en-us&refig=0f26e52c99864c78b71ad27246811a64&ghc=1&qs=AS&pq=till+there&sc=8-10&sp=1&cvid=0f26e52c99864c78b71ad27246811a64

^ I have the feeling that what I am about to write may be viewed as sacrilege to you, a first generation Beatles fan, but I like the 2005 version better than the 1963 version. Be it depth of soul in maturity or whatever it may be, I feel the 2005 version is warmer, more romantic, makes me envision lovers slow dancing very closely. Paul's face in 1963 is absolutely beautiful - angelic!

1963. They were still a boy band at that time, girls screaming... because of their looks. But "Please Please Me" and "With the Beatles" actually rocks pretty good. It's a great band. And It was still a bit Hamburg left in them, especially in Lennon, fortunately.

Doesn't he regularly do Jimi Hendrix?

Yes, and I wish he'd stop it!

I approve of the Hendrix number. Perhaps it is a bit self-conscious... John was the rocker, Paul was the balladeer. And he want to prove... but the thing is that McCartney was the person who arranged for Jimi Hendrix to play at Montery Pop Festival in 1967, a performance that became Hendrix' breakthrough. There is an historical link here....

Yes, sacrilege! Well, we can definitely agree on his angelic face in 1963!

Yes, but that's just a tiny bit of the song. I meant a full performance in concert (and not soundcheck either)

It wasn't just their looks! It was the music too and the way they moved. There was nothing like it, and never will be again. People will still talk about them in 500 years (if the human race is still around then!)

He should do Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft by the Carpenters.

In 500 years? That's a long time. I don't even know what's gonna happen tomorrow... I'll stick around and see.

Over to cover songs... It could have been fun to hear him sing a Bob Dylan song. Dylan did "Things We Said Today" on "The Art of McCartney". Not sure what song that would maybe suit McCartney... I bet he can find one. ops:

Well, Beethoven is still played 200 years after his death, and Bach almost 300 years after his death, so, yes, 500 years is not such a stretch.
-
I bet they will be remembered through me. In 500 years people will look at The Beatles and say; Wow, the one and only Hendrix Ibsen listened to these ugly guys!
-
In 500 years, we'll have to blink our eyes to operate the crystal music implant. Teenagers will complain about how complicated it is. "I had to blink twain to find my treble."

Yeah, McCartney had a hand in it. I think Hendrix's cover of "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" was a kind of thank you.
