FOTR ticketing?
-
Believe me, the "fans on the run" (which includes people who have never been to a soundcheck) don't have any "in" for tickets.

My last post on this subject and I'll go away Just one example for one specific concert: it wasn't just one photo, there were two or three. Second, the FOTR group were in row 3. I was online as soon as tix went on sale, best I was offered was row 4. The row 3 ticket said $500 the row 4 ticket said $1500, same section. Coincidence? Maybe. I don't know you thenightfish, so none of my comments are directed toward you. But some people seem to know where he's going to be before anyone else, and they always seem to get great seats. Makes me think someone knows someone. Again, I have nothing against that, but this is what I think. Is it true? Who knows/who cares? Just my opinion. The OP asked a question and I just replied how I feel.
No worries, and you are entitled to your opinion, of course. I was just curious about what you based it on.

I concur with Sophie. I'm a long time FOTR, and no I have never been to a soundcheck. I cast for tickets along with everyone else either through Crowd Surge or the on sale date. I am fortunate enough to be able to pay for a gold seat now and again, but that is only because I make sacrifices elsewhere in my life to be able to afford it. I have gotten 5th row, 7th row, etc. on the regular sale on a non VIP (gold) ticket. There are times when I have a better seat for the show than the soundcheck people, Columbia SC being the most recent show where this happened. Plus since the closest city to me he would ever play is 100 miles away I am willing to travel. I know not everyone has that luxury given job or family obligations . Sometimes it is based on if I get a good seat coupled with a trip that I can manage. A lot of things come into play. I won't say that there aren't people who seem to know in advance as I suspect there are those that do, but I can tell you 99.9% don't know anything you don't know, we just jump in on ticket sales right at the appointed time and hold our breath! There's no "in" and there's no "magic" to it, I just try my best. And there are people on this board that will not brag about it but have over 150 shows under their belts (not me) starting way back when Wings started touring!

Thanks for the input, everybody. I believe that there is no "inside connection", but sometimes it does seem at least a little suspicious. Separate from the instance listed above, I can verify that my Candlestick Soundcheck seats ($1500, tickets marked as face $250) were purchased when tickets went on sale (not on sale, refresh and packages were on sale, on a very fast network), and I was given row 4 for the show, while row 3 both where I was, and to the left and right was a solid block of FOTR folks (and their signs). As to the folks that have been to 100+ shows, were I fortunate enough to have the $$$ and free time to pursue that, I would be a little disappointed if I didn't at least have a heads-up and maybe a thirty-second head start on everybody else
-
Having an "inside connection" to get tickets to a major concert event or sporting event is nothing new. Nor is it a big deal. I never had a connection for Paul tickets. But I have gotten lucky and had good seats. I had a promoter friend who could get good seats to shows and he has done it for me, including to Billy Joel, Madonna, George Michael, and Heart/Cheap Trick many years ago. It's a concert. I don't care if someone knows someone or something that gets them up close. More power to them. Enjoy the concert! I don't go to big ticket shows anymore so whoever gets the best seat to a Paul concert means nothing to me.
-
That's the other thing. The only other act I will spend money on to see is Ringo, but he comes to a casino less than 50 miles from me, and his tickets are less expensive. I haven't spent money on any other shows and I don't go to the movies anymore and take modest vacations, mostly centered around a show or two. Been to some pretty cool places! Don't forget those people that went to 100+ shows, most of them started a long time ago, like me, with Wings shows when tickets were no more than $9.50-$10.50! And the tours in the 90s were a fraction of what they are now for the top (non gold/silver or soundcheck) pkgs, so you know, MOST of those folks haven't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars... I imagine they either save up or go into debt for shows. One gal said "Paul now, pay later!"

This can happen, it has happened to me. The soundcheck tix are all center section. It is possible to get non soundcheck tix in the same row or better than soundcheck tickets but they are usually not center tickets. In Columbia I was sitting right next to soundcheck people in the third row. Other soundcheck people were in the center about 6 rows behind me. It's just the luck of the draw. I could not believe I pulled up those tickets.

Maybe soundcheck tix are SUPPOSED to be center section but I can tell you they are not. We paid $3000.00 for 2 2nd row aisle tickets all the way over on Brian's side. This included soundcheck but they were no way center section. I've posted pics before with my view.

In Columbia I was right in front of Brian. Non soundcheck ticket. The people to my left were soundcheck people. Maybe it depends on the demand for soundcheck tix in any one city? Do you know beforehand where you will be seated? Or do you find out only on the day. Never having done soundcheck, I don't know. I would want to know from the moment of purchase.

: A lot of ppl that have been following Paul for yrs have done so before .. any kinds of group were started,... Getting tic are luck of the draw,.. nobody gets first crack ,... only once that I know of....
-
:.. you guys, honestly, they sell 3 -4-5-6 rows first,... I can tell you that.. First two rows are for Paul, who comps pplmin the upper decks,... the problem with this is... some aren't into the gig, just like to drink or just stand there.... Theres also ppm who group their monies together, so they can sit next to each other,...
-
I I can tell you there are some great Fans & crappy fans,... that treat ppl like other fans ....like crap... security knows this ...,... so don't get all caught up on labels 'they know' whose been following Paul for years... Hope that helps...,

What are the prices for soundcheck pkg's in England?
For the recent shows in London, Birmingham and Liverpool: Front Row: $789.00 per person, inc. tax Hot Sound Package: $710.00 per person, inc. tax
That's with soundcheck? Quite a difference from here.
Yep...it sure is! The only difference between these packages and the U.S. packages are that these do not contain "hospitality" experiences.
How can they be $789 dollars, when i paid event travel £750 pounds? Current exchange has £750 UK pounds coming up as 1171.08 US Dollar. The UK front row VIP this year was £750 (or was it £725... point is it is not what you said it is...) I can get my sisters credit card bill up to prove it

Why would they list pounds for 2 prices & then switch to dollars? I think the dollar sign was used rather than the pound sign.

My experience has been in the UK I found out where I was sitting when I got there. For every US show( VIP packages) I knew what section row and seat number before I purchased them.

I know what we paid - i'll get that credit card proof godammit!!!! £725 for london front row. I think you'll find the page your quoted shows Prices From: £522 ?720 $789 per person inc Tax - which means from £522 which at that times exchange rate was $789. Some of the standing europe shows were £522/$789, but the UK ones were £725 which currently works out at over $1000. Did you go to the show or just found the event travel page to show "how cheap" the UK is compared to the states? Cos it isn't cheap. in fact here's a screenshot of part of the email confirmation - showing that for 2 of us the price came to £1450 (ie £725 per ticket)
