Paul, Come To Australia

Hi What happened in Albuquerque? Cheers Chrissie
Nothing happened in Albuquerque. We are just having a bit of fun about Paul never playing here.
-
Do it Paul, Do it!!!

Any Aussies believe in omens? Each time Paul has toured, it has been an election year!

Let's get this to this topic:

COULD IT BE?!

I was thinking the same thing. I don't recall such a prominent message to us before. Facebook replies have been coming in at a rapid fire rate. Almost every reply asks for a tour! If Paul's people did this gauge reaction - well a reaction is what they got!
moptops:
Mmmm...flying kangaroo is the nickname for Qantas...mmmm. ...watch out for a Qantas flight, inbound?
First thing the missus said to me. Basically it would be a pretty big stab to use the 2002 promo pictures with the flags and then not follow it up, haha.

Yeah, for what it's worth, I checked back to last year, and his Facebook page didn't post anything for Australia Day in 2015.
Thanks for that, sgt pepper. Well whatever the reason, we are on his mind! Does he usually or even sometimes drop a message seemingly out of the blue re: places he intends to tour? It was ages ago but I seem to recall a message or pic regarding South Korea way before an official announcement.
Yes, he had a random Korean fan post a few weeks/months before the announcement of the gigs over there. Though yesterday he also had a post about Scotland...

'' I would LOVE it if this meant something... but I do have to wonder whether Paul's social media people have simply decided that it would be good if he acknowledged "national days" around the world, and that this new policy kicked in on January 1?
-
I believe the message comes from Paul himself. He has referred to us as "cousins" and "relatives" often in interviews. The downside? Perhaps he was just watching the Australian Open...and it would have been obvious to him it was Australia Day. He does have a new nephew born in Melbourne too, so maybe that recent event, and brother Michael's Christmas visit is in his thoughts? Nevertheless it's a loud shout out to OZ, and I"ll run with it!
-
i found the Happy Oz day message qquite patronising and condescending. Haven't bothered coming here since 1993 but will send them this message to keep them happy...

I didn't read it like that at all. And I'm very quick to criticise. Guess I'm a "glass half full" type of fella when it comes to the chance of one last McCartney tour of Australia.

Well yesterday was also India's Republic day, and they got SFA from Paul: BUPKIS!

Nothing to see here. Just Paul's PR team getting cozy with a demographic.

What a nonsense. I've been trawling the facebook comments and of the nearly 600, I probably read 10 that were anti. Overwhelmingly the comments are pro Paul and practically everyone of them asks for him to return to tour. This is an absolutely nothing "story" and selecting a half dozen anti Paul comments is not sensational, not newsworthy and not provocative. Practically social media trolling. I am friends with one of those quoted in the anti Paul comments, and believe me, if Paul does return he'll be the second person to get a ticket - I'll be the first! It's quite pathetic.
-
Andrewhh:
I sent you a pm, old chap.
-
Barely 24 hours after his Australia Day message, his facebook has close to 34,000 likes and near 600 comments, 99% of which are overwhelmingly positive. And that annoys some people... So media picks up on about a dozen negative messages, runs with it and it becomes news. Geez, no wonder he doesn't come back.

That article is... weird. It claims that Paul hasn't toured Australia in 18 years (it's 23), and it also says the 1993 tour was cancelled (it was the 2002 tour).

It's what passes as journalism these days. Read any McCartney concert reviews of late? Reviews of the remasters? Sloppy work is everywhere.

Editor and fact-checkers take the day off? Geez.

Remaining optimistic here!
