does he still think of Jane when he performs "Yesterday
-
Has he ever commented on this?
-
I don't think Yesterday has anything to do with Jane and even if it did, I doubt he would be associating the song with her after the passing of over 50 years. In reality, Paul has performed the song so many times now, he just goes into auto--pilot mode and is more likely planning what he's going to have for breakfast the next day........even if scrambled eggs are off the menu !!!

yesterday is about Paul's mother not about Jane Asher
-
a better question would be for here there and everywhere, but esp i'm looking through you

Yeah, he's right. The only connection is that he "woke up, fell out of bed" with the tune in his head at the Asher home where he lived from 1963 to 1966.

He thinks about breakfast. 'Scrambled Eggs' was the original title and inspiration behind the song.

well, no. (It seems we're gonna disagree in everything in this board) Paul wroted, dreamed really the song in a Hotel in Paris. The Beatles on tour, the guys having a night out and he staying in the hotel with the piano trying to write a song. He couldn't write a thing. But he went to sleep and dreamed that, and played it at the piano when waking.

"scrambled eggs oh my baby how I love your legs..." Paul kind of always have talked about these 2 first lines, and maybe it really already went on like this. Scrambled Eggs-Paul with Jimmy Fallon
John suggested Paul to change the lyrics and to think about the past, about "Yesterday" -
I think he heard "He's So Fine," by the Chiffons, on the radio, fell asleep, woke up and had a tune with the working title of "My Sweet Jane." He fell asleep again, had nightmares about lawyers, woke up, and composed "Yesterday."

Or And I Love Her .
He said in an interview that it was not written specifically for Jane. Seems odd though, huh?
-
I read that he wrote the lyric during a car journey, so it was not special inspiration.

Don't remember about the car journey, but he wrote the words later. The music is what was in his head when he woke up, thus "Scrambled Eggs" for the nonsensical title.

That was on 27th May 1965, during the car journey between the airport & Bruce Welch's villa in Albufera, Portugal. Paul started writing the lyrics, which he continued to work on throughout his two week stay. Paul and Jane flew back to London on the 11th June and the song was recorded on the 14th.

I was talking about And I Love Her, not Yesterday. I thought the other poster was too, but I guess not.

I believe Paul wrote the music on a piano in Jane's parents' house where he was staying. So, that experience (the birth of the song) might give him flashbacks to Jane.

Where, pray tell, did you get that story? It was at the Asher home where he was living. (btw, I just today saw your post. Must have skipped over it earlier)
