New Music Books Out On...

New Frank Sinatra bio "Sinatra: Chairman of the Board" reportedly too heavy on the sensationalism. New book on Beyoncé is reported as rather lurid with some shockers. One wonders if the bad stuff is true, 'cause otherwise the author would get in boiling hot water, seems like. Carly Simon's new memoir is called "Boys in the Trees" after an especially charming folksy number from her album of the same name.

Jewel Kilcher's autobiography "Never Broken" subtitled "The Songs are Only Half of the Story" is a good read, a bit harrowing in parts, very inspiring in others (she wants to be a self help teacher) with right many interesting anecdotes. Jewel comes across as quite nice and good. If she's prolific enough (has sold 30 million albums so far) perhaps she will eventually be regarded an American music treasure and be awarded presidential honors and whatnot. Kennedy Center Honors and such. This book seems to aim for that lofty perch, makes it appear she deserves it. In a Lilith Fair outdoors concert clip I saw, Jewel was the most sexy on stage, with the other female musicians--not that this is the ultimate goal, being sexy while performing, but Jewel did it naturally with little to no artifice and no skimpy half-naked attire, and no naughty dance moves She has a sweet pretty singing voice which can go deep with emotion, suddenly.

At the library now, they've got "Porcelan" by Moby in their new books section, had new one about Waylan Jennings but it's checked out. I'd probably like some of Moby's music but not very much. Leafed through his memoirs, it didn't grab me but I'll read a bit more. It's about the New York music scene too, the decade of the 90's I think...I wish they'd had Patti Smith's and Elvis Costello's instead. Among others. Will ask them to order Norman Smith's new Paul McCartney biography

Bobby Brown has a new one, seems largely focused on telling on Whitney, sensationalizing Whitney And has a crazy part claiming a 'ghost" pounced on him and ravished him (LOL), think he was stoned out of his tree during that? : With the fairly recent tragedy of what happened to his and Whitney's daughter Bobbi, you'd think he would have refrained from such a book at this time.

I'm pissed off at Bobby Brown for dishing out dirt on Whitney after she's dead! Now Bobby is saying that Whitney was a Bi-sexual. Or Whitney became a Bi-sexual because Bobby wasn't good in bed!

That's why you need a good biographer before you die, to counteract all the made up stuff just to sell books, when you're gone?
