The 2012 and beyond Political Thread - Part 2

Trying to hold on to faith. Just saw this about Donald Trump and his tax returns, showing his actual salary. He is not a billionaire.
-
Trying to stay positive, but its getting harder and harder. She'll get CA for sure, but if she doesn't get MI and some of the other Western states, it may be over.

I hope Hillary wins... But first Brexit, and we see how England wishes that had not happened. If Trump gets elected we will regret electing HITLER! Thanks FBI Director James Comey for being so confused a week ago then remembers yesterday! He needs to go!

I think it needs to be said, though it should be obvious, that if you support Donald Trump you are attacking everything Paul and the Beatles ever stood for. Everything.
I couldn't have said that better myself Bruce M.! Thank you!

There are a lot of angry people who are struggling to make ends meet, and had enough of Washington insiders...and you thought Hillary Clinton was the answer. I don't think Trump will be the answer either....but it's completely disrespectful to shat on these people who have spoken out...I never looked at this as Hillary vs Trump. But I do know we reached a tipping point and it will force us, as a nation, to reflect... The sun will still rise tomorrow morning

The best part of this election (to which I can only give Trump a marginal amount of credit) is how much was exposed concerning Washington, our politicians the the level of corruption...Trump had very little to do with exposing this, although he promoted it very well

But other than trump being elected nothing has changed. The same old people that have been sitting on their asses doing nothing for this country all got elected again. So the corruption will still be with us. Trump can't just get rid of them all as he claims he can.

I think that Hillary Clinton is a better answer than Donald Trump! Donald Trump made it a Hillary vs Trump seeing that Trump devoted his entire campaign in bringing up the e-mails rather than come up with solutions to many of our country's current issues. All Trump did was say what he is going to do but did not say how he is going to do it. If Hillary would have brought up or kept throwing Trump's Income Tax returns in the spotlight, maybe Hillary would have evened it up. Hillary was talking solutions to many of our country's issues rather than dig up dirt on Trump. Do you really think that Trump is going to create new jobs for angry people trying to make ends meat seeing that he has filed bankruptcy many times and run off with the money while leaving his clients hanging? Anyone that believes that Trump is the answer is going to end up very disappointed. I admit, I was very disappointed with Hillary Clinton because of the e-mails. However, I do believe that Clinton is the most qualified in running this country. What do you think rich n? I do want to hear your views and opinions.

I spent 8 years with President Obama being president under siege by Republican politicians who committed some of the worst violations of civil rights in my life. Some of them went to prison for their criminal behavior in other crimes. I cannot imagine living in the South with the Republicans with so much power. I am definitely moving. I woke up for the first time in my life afraid of the country. PS: the date today is 11/09 Or in England 09/11

Democrats lost by the narrowest of margins. I am happy to know that half of the people in America voted Democrat and will stay Democrat. Sometimes, things have to be brought out into the light to be seen for their true value. If this government inclination does not serve All Americans, it won't last. Progress is often times 2 steps forward and 1 step back.

We need to scrounge up hope, so thanks for your optimistic post up above, Sur Steven

What a nightmare. Britain wants to exit the EU and America wants to exit the world.
-
Looks like we have protesters out today/ tonight.??
-
"Street Fighting Man" (and Woman)--probably nothing like what would have happened if Clinton had won. I hope I've been wrong all along and that Trump isn't as bad as I feared. Given that he's been elected.
-
WOW, there is a lot of protesting taking place around the country.

I work in a nonprofit that advocates for communities of color, and several of my coworkers have undocumented family members. One young man -- the kindest, sweetest human being you could ever want to know -- told me that as the results came in Tuesday night, his mom called him in tears. Another is terrified his father will be deported. These are people who have contributed more to our country than Donald Trump ever will in his whole, miserable existence. America, 2016.

I think Trump is a horrible human being, but I don't have a problem with the results. The system of Republicans versus Democrats is broken, and if it takes the ascension of a narcissistic megalomaniac to pry people away from their party loyalty, I think it might be healthy for the country in the long run. Clinton would have been a standard Democrat. The economy might have improved, but nothing would have changed. Trump probably won't change anything either, but at least when all the people who expect him to make their lives better see that he only cares about his own bank account, maybe they'll realize that the solution to their problems isn't in voting for the same corporate parties over and over again. It's not the end of the world. He won't be the first openly racist president. Now that the election is over, he'll tone down the racism considerably. I'd be surprised if Republican leaders don't take away his Twitter account as soon as possible. He definitely won't be the first president who hates women. He was elected president, not king. The corporations and power brokers who have controlled Washington for generations will still be in charge. Trump's powers will be just as limited as any other president. He won't ship all Muslims off to concentration camps or start the purge. He might build a wall, but the American taxpayers will have to pay for it. No one will be happy about that, but if they're smart, they won't buy whatever excuses the people in charge shove down their throats.
