Here is an example of the advertising campaign in Tokyo. This flyer is being given away at the entrance of the "David Bowie is" exhibition: https://scontent-gru2-1.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/15802029_679414608888499_3149169428445265920_n.jpg

How many pre-sales are going on for the Tokyo shows and who is sponsoring each one? There are usually pre-sales for specific credit cards, venues, fan clubs, etc. Also, what is the date of the regular/public sale?

That's a point. is there any other method other than the lottery thing or is that it for general sale?
-
Does anyone have any idea when the tickets for Tokyo will go on sale? I'm coming from Australia, so have to pre book airfares etc ?

I see some dates in the link below, hopefully that info will help you in some way: http://md-ticket.pia.jp/pia/ticketInformation.do?lotRlsCd=31324 Perhaps someone who reads Japanese can provide an accurate translation to the following text? ????:2017/1/26(?) 11:00~2017/1/30(?) 23:59 ????????: 2017/1/31(?) 18:00?????

Plugged it into Google Translate. Didn't make much sense "word-for-word" but I think it says: Lottery Tickets on sale 11:00 30/01/17 - 23:59 30/01/17 You will be notified if successful after 18:00 31/01/17 General sale after that maybe? I tell you what, it'd be an evil marketing tactic to put them on general sale for a bit and THEN announce Australian dates. Just after you've gone and forked out a fair bit for a trip to Japan and then you see that. Hopefully I'm being unreasonably cynical.

Like 99% of us on this site, I have no "inside knowledge" of Paul's tour plans in 2017, however I find it very strange that he would go "half-way" around the world to play only three concerts. If there were more shows planned for Japan, they would probably have been announced in the original statement. I still believe there's something else planned in that area (Australia??)

Is it much of a trek from, say, the West Coast of America to Japan? From the UK to Aus apparently it's about a 24 hour flight which I can see being a big problem for touring acts. When my family and I went to America (we visited friends in Tucson via LA), I think it was 14 and Japan would be even shorter since it's much more northern.

I guess I was just using Japan as an example. My point was that it makes little sense logistically to put such an elaborate show on so far away and only do 3 concerts. I don't think he would do only three shows in the U.S., Europe, or S. America either.

I don't think Paul has much control over how his tickets are sold in Japan (for example, before the previous tour he stated publically that he had suggested to the promoters to release one show at a time, but they did not). From the promoters' perspective, I suspect that ticket sales to Australians aren't really on their radar. After all, they don't make it easy for us to buy tickets, and the population of Greater Tokyo alone is much higher than the population of Australia (about 37 million vs 23 million). Out of the 150,000 or so Tokyo Dome tickets up for grabs, the number sold to Australians would probably be fewer than 100.

In the Out There Tour 2013, Paul only did 3 shows in Europe (Warsaw, Vienna and Verona). When the tour started in South America, he only did 3 shows too (all in Brazil). And so last year (just 3 shows in Argentina). From the UK to Argentina it's a 14 hour flight and from the UK to Japan it's 12 hours. And we must remember that he is going to Japan for the third time in 4 years, so it's normal to reduce the number of concerts, after all he is repeating the same venue too. We got 6 shows in 2013, then 4 in 2015 (plus the Budokan Show) and now it's going to be 3 shows. Sounds plausible to me. And I don't think he is going to Australia just after Japan. From Tokyo to Sydney or Melbourne it's a 10 hour flight. I can't predict Paul's tour plans, but usually we don't see he crossing a distance like that in the same leg. The pattern is 2 or 3 hour in the plane from a city to another. I think Australia may happen in October.

What makes you say October Renan???? I'll be at the April 29 and 30 shows in Tokyo woohoo!

Congratulations, enjoy the shows! How did their lottery system work? Did you fill out a form asking for tickets to the 3 concerts and then got selected to be allowed to buy tickets to 2 of those?

Chriska, it's just a guess. When some artists go to Australia and New Zealand they don't do shows in Japan, probably because of the 10 hour flight distance that I mentioned on my previous post. Springsteen and the Stones are examples: their tours had an exclusive leg for Australia/New Zealand. We know that Paul usually takes a break after August, so he could rest until October and then do some concerts just in Australia/New Zealand. Macca usually takes short breaks between April and August and that pattern difficults a trip to a country far away like Australia. But like I said, it's just a guess.
-
I fear what you say makes too much sense, Renan. I'm not sure I can take the chance and hope that he comes out in October. I listen to live albums almost exclusively and one of my favourites is actually the Tokyo Dome 2013 one (which I ripped off the pro-shot of that and split into tracks) so I'd probably still enjoy it.

W.D Stevens, the way he announces his schedule is terrible for the fans. You never know with Paul, but it will really surprise me if we see some shows in Australia in April/May. It seems that we only gonna have the 3 Tokyo Dome nights. My concern is about the distance between Australia and UK/US. It's the most far away place that Paul could go in the world. Perhaps he doesn't wanna go on such a long trip like that, after all he cancelled the 2002 dates because of low tickets sales and I think this episode left deep bad memories for him. I'm really hoping for the Aussie fans! Have you heard any consistent rumor about Australia?

Was lucky to have help from a friend there, so I didn't actually do the buying myself, but from what he said, he initially registered interest for the two shows for me, and was only selected for April 30. He tried for April 29 on a later drawing and was successful. I could only ever do those two shows due to my work schedule, so definitely appreciating that we got theough with this method!

Lucky indeed, and those concerts will be great. Do they let buyers know the exact seat numbers? I have read that sometimes you only find out your actual seat location once you get to the venue.
