Flower Power cruise 2018

Fan4-45years:
Have fun, Nancy!
Thanks, I know I will. I have 5 friends who are on the Rock 'N Romance '70s cruise right now and sounds like they are having a blast! Three of them also went on the Flower Power '60s cruise and they had a great time on that as well.

Can't wait. Got balcony cabin.
What deck? I always get an inside cabin because I can't watch the ocean go by or I get sick, plus I like a real dark room. When is your cruise? Soon?
I think it is on deck 10 or 11, need to check with my wife. We enjoy a balcony because sometimes we have breakfast sitting out on it or maybe a glass of wine late in the evening. We are leaving April 8th, stops at Haiti (private island), Jamaica and Cozumel.

I have been on that exact cruise in 2012! The Haiti stop is not a private island, but is a RC private port on Haiti and RC has a huge fenced in area in which all the native vendors and workers have to be vetted before they are allowed to work there. There will be 2 large picnic buffet pavilions in which to have lunch (drinks are extra, but I had a soda package, so just showed my SeaPass for "free" Cokes) Eat at the pavilion that is in the middle of the area (straight on) and go past the vendors (they are very persistent, so just keep walking to the right unless you want to get roped into buying something) Grab a lawn chair and set up near the beach . There are also hammocks you can use. In Jamaica I went horseback riding. Their horses are small and thin - very uncomfortable- but you do get to ride them into the sea up as high as their backs which was different! (They put special saddles on which are just pads with a holder. You take off your outer clothes and just wear your swimsuit only) In Cozumel one of the ladies I met who was there with her daughter invited me to take a taxi with them to a beach about 5 miles from the port. For $5 you rent a lounge chair and have the use of the beach, pool, showers and changing facilities. There is a bar on the beach where we ate lunch. Can't remember the name of the place, but I think it had Paradise in the title. Make sure to come back here and tell us all about it when you get back! Private dock at Haiti:

I like it much better when ship can actually dock and not have to use tender boat.
RC always docks their ships and there is a special area of the ship where you disembark. Then you have to go through security/customs, but that doesn't take long. Oh, and I know nothing about Shutterfly. I've always used Photobucket. You can easily get a free account for every email address you have. (I have 3 accounts!)

"RC always docks their ships and there is a special area of the ship where you disembark" Actually, they do use tender boats for places like Coco Cay in the Bahamas. Glad Oasis docks everywhere.

You mean they use tender boats for their smaller ships? Because we pulled right up to the dock in the Bahamas (Nassau) on the Allure. (Been there twice)

For their "private" island, they have used tender boats. For Nassau, have always docked.

Not when I was on the Oasis - at their "private island" (Haiti) we pulled right up to the dock, as you can see in the above pic I posted on page 2.

Those are great pictures, Nancy. We need a vacation/travel topic on this site. I'm learning quite a lot here, but this is only a temporary topic.

I loved you picture and understood it docked in Haiti, glad it does. I looked back at my pictures and when we went to Coco Cay (Bahamas) we did not dock, the ship was Enchantment Of The Seas.

Is that considered a small ship by today's standards? I went on a cruise a few years ago with 2,000 other people and even then they said it was half the size of the larger ships.
Yes, the Celebrity Summit with 2000 or so on board is considered "small." I've been on Royal Caribbean's Oasis Of The Seas and Allure Of The Seas which are virtually identical and they carry 7000+ passengers (plus crew) and are almost the largest cruise ships in the world. Now that is Harmony Of The Seas (also RC) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_cruise_ships "I've been on Royal Caribbean's Oasis Of The Seas "
Going on it next month - lol
You will LOVE it!!
Got back last night and the cruise was fantastic, ship is amazing. Loved "Central Park" and the "Boardwalk". Shows were were great, the show in Aqua Theater was awesome !! My daughters and I did the "zip line' which was very cool, my wife passed on it - lol. I really loved Haiti, thought it was setup real well and it was very pretty. We did the Dunns River Falls climb and had a blast, also did some tubing down a river in Jamaica. Went to Chichin Itza to see the Malayan ruins in Cozumel and enjoyed that very much.

I leave on Friday (fly to Ft. Lauderdale) then Saturday board the Celebrity Summit for the Flower Power cruise for 7 days! Really looking forward to it! The Turtles and Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels had to cancel, but they added Grand Funk Railroad. There are so many bands you can’t see them all, but I will definitely see Mickey Dolenz, Mark Lindsay, Peter Noone, Peter Asher, The Rascals, The Association, The Grass Roots, The Hollies, plus the Beatles tribute bands The Fab Four, BritBeat and The Jukebox.
-
Didn't Micky Dolenz die a few years ago? I hope not. Unless it's a zombie cruise. That's probably in poor taste, but I bet people would pay top dollar to be on a zombie cruise.
I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Zombie Cruise TV show pretty soon.
