Seeing Jeff live is one of my bucket list guys, I saw him at CFG but I always wanted to see him perform his songs. I was planning on going over for the Liverpool show because I just don't think there is enough demand for an arena tour of the States and I am not sure Jeff will bother with smaller venues. Luckily he added some small venue shows to promote the new record and I got tix for Irving Plaza this morning. I am sure the show will be very similar to the Porchester Hall show and I am fine with that
Having been in Hyde Park last year for his first live UK show since the mid '80's it was a truly joyful experience to be there! I'm heading off to see two London shows this April as it will probably be the last time he tours. You'll have a blast Shaun, the band are awesome as are the strings. I think for the Irving Plaza they'll have a small string section, for the tour it looks like it will be a much bigger string section, hopefully.

I dont normally complain about ticket prices but i cant help that ELO's are on the expensive side frankly, yes i know in the UK at least Paul's are a bit more expensive but you know what you're getting 3 hours of quality,Jeff hasnt toured for what 30 years or so? Too much of a gamble for me.
love2travel flew over for the ELO Hyde Park show last year and we had a blast, the gig was one of the best I've been too, it certainly wasn't a gamble hengirl! You just have to watch the DVD of the show to realise how good it was. I do think the show will be longer on the tour than the Festival headliner slot. I'm going to two of the four London shows it was that good last year. Also, Jeff's voice hasn't changed that much, no touring has helped him preserve it. The link below shows ELO playing last Thursday for the BBC In Concert programme.
Great link for the latest of Jeff's band! Had a listen and it brought back memories of Hyde Park for me! We had a blast indeed! Thanks to you for picking up my ticket for me, and coaxing me off of my deathbed, to come to the concert !! and for getting me to the ER directly after the concert!! After spending all the money to fly in, don't think I would have made it to the show, without your help...

A gentle reminder that Jeff's on TFI Friday tonight at 8:00pm on Channel 4 (in the UK).

Sony are to reissue three classic Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) albums just before Christmas, as limited edition clear vinyl pressings. The albums are 1977?s ten million selling Out of the Blue, its predecessor New World Record (1976) and ELO?s fourth studio album, 1974?s Eldorado. The former is a gatefold package with the double album pressed on two discs of clear vinyl while 'A New World Record' and is a one-LP release, as is E'ldorado'. These are limited to 5,000 (of each) worldwide, with around 1,000 or so allocated to the UK market. All three albums are released on 18th December 2015 (8th January in Germany) and are currently available to pre-order from Amazon UK, USA, Canada, Germany and France

^ Very Cool Looks like a must have!

I've actually heard some pretty cool ELO covers recently while browsing YouTube - the last one is an audience recording of a cover band, so the sound quality isn't quite as good

Jeff Lynne's ELO announced for Glastonbury 2016 Jeff Lynne?s ELO will be taking to Glastonbury?s Pyramid Stage on Sunday 26 June, taking the afternoon slot traditionally filled by beloved entertainers of a certain age. The return and rise of Jeff Lynne and ELO has been one of music?s surprise stories of the past few years. When Lynne released an album under the ELO name in 2001, Zoom, it reached only No 34 in the UK charts. However, after Lynne appeared at a Children in Need benefit concert in November 2013, he was persuaded by Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans to perform under the ELO name at a Radio 2 concert in Hyde Park. The 50,000 tickets for the show sold out in 15 minutes, since when Jeff Lynne?s ELO have announced sellout arena shows and released an album, Alone in the Universe, that reached No 4 in the UK. The Sunday afternoon appearance by an older musician has become known as the ?legend slot? owing to the calibre of the artists appearing in it. Last October, Leo Sayer claimed he was in the running to fill the bill in 2016, saying on ITV?s Loose Women: ?It?s on the cards man. I want do to it. Why not?? The Feeling (http://www.thefeeling.com)) have now been confirmed as the support for Jeff's upcoming UK Tour.

Went to Jeff Lynne/ELO's show at o2 arena last night, wow what a truly amazing show everything from the set design to the songs. Jeff was fairly chatty between songs, they played for about 1hr 30 mins and The Feeling were an excellent support act i had also seen them some yrs ago previously. Stand out songs for me were Living thing and Wild West Hero, even the 2 new album tracks were excellent. The o2 also paid a lovely tribute to Prince in the fact he played 21 nights there in 2007. Feel so lucky i was able to finally see Jeff Lynne/ELO, anyone going you wont be disappointed

I have tickets, really looking forward to it!! Wish he would play something from Time like Twilight, 21 Century Man, Yours Truly 2095 are favs, but love the entire album. From his new album, my fav songs are All My Life, When I Was A Boy, when The Night Comes, The Sun Will Shine on You and Alone In the Universe.

Jon, I went to two Jeff Lynne's ELO shows at the O2 in London as you know, one with L2T, and one on my own, the shows were very memorable and will live long in the memory! We also bumped into Mike Stevens the musical director/guitarist just before the show and had a lovely 10 min chat with him which was great! The big plus was also four days later running into Keyboard wizard Richard Tandy and his wife in Kensington Waitrose and having a lovely talk with him too, unbelievable luck!

Glad you enjoyed it James, the sat 23rd show was just great in every way all the songs were superb even the new songs and Jeff Lynne looked thrilled to be there and hes still got a great voice and the rest of band were excellent. I have also met Mike Stevens back in 2009 when he was playing with 10cc at a gig in Tunbridge Wells Kent, as you prob know hes a session musician (a very good one) and is Take That/Gary Barlow's musical director. 'Livin thing' stood out for me with that intro, just brill. I feel very lucky to have been able to go its a night i wont forget.

I did discuss 10cc with him as they're playing in my hometown in October, but he's not playing on the Sheet Music tour as he's too busy! I was aware he wasn't doing 10cc much as have seen the current tour a few months back and he wasn't there. I did see him with 10cc a few years ago, though! I'm surprised they're playing in Bury St Edmunds as our theatre holds 500 only, but good for me! The ELO shows will live long in the memory. L2T is seeing ELO again in NY in September at Radio City Music Hall. much smaller theatre around 6.000 so that'll be awesome!

The Tunbridge wells theatre is fairly small prob seats around 400 people, met Mike , Graham Gouldman and rest of band after the show. Now if ELO could do a show there!! There songs will live on forever, so glad Jeff Lynne agreed to step back into the limelight again. Hope you enjoy the Roger Hodgson and Brian Wilson gigs. Next up for me is Bruce Springsteen and then Paul in Berlin.

Just home from seeing Jeff in Dublin...incredible show! Certainly an experience I'll never forget. Next up Paul in Berlin then Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel and Elton John later in the year.

Glad you got to go to Dublin in the end after last week's postponement! Ironically Dublin's postponement gave me and L2T the chance to meet Richard Tandy in London, so a double- edged sword really. I saw Roger Hodgson at the Royal Albert Hall 4 days after seeing my second ELO show of the tour on the 26th and he was great, but it seemed slightly anti-climatic after ELO's extravaganza of a show. My next one is Brian Wilson at the London Palladium on May 21st. Ben Folds on June 23rd in Cambridge.

Felt like we musta just missed meeting Jeff... It was an unbelievable week of music almost every night! One I shan't forget in the years to come! Even getting on TV and seeing Joan Armatrading and Mark Knopfler...how lucky can you get...except we didn't meet Paul either! It was one long incredible week!!! Yow!
