I guess I'll be the one to say that is sort of BS for the PM.com fan club - wish it sort of was an exclusive club once again for those perks.
Thanks for the agreement - David Gilmour did it for his album; anyone whom purchased a ticket got a free copy - that marketing actually may get McCartney back in the album charts.
Really. Each give away counts as items sold. AND we are most likely to buy additional copies of a new album at Best Buy or where ever for the add on promotional items.

No email for me...at least not yet.

It's a no brainer!

No email for me, but the venue sells the tickets. It doesn't use Ticketmaster.

Agree. The 2005 tour year seemed to be the height of greatness. That tour they emailed passwords specifically for your tickets, and the seats were awesome! Can't beat 4th row ... Unless you're in rows 1, 2, or 3!!! Now the credit card holders get better presale seats than members of the club, and on top of it a CD, too! I don't even think this time around you had to be signed up on th website to get "fan club" tickets, do you? My reasoning with that is that Paul's people KNOW that anyone signed up on his website would be buying the music anyone so instead of providing it with a ticket just go ahead and let them pay for it.

In fairness, yesterday I got seats I was happy with through the pm.com presale for 3 of the 4 venues within the first half hour and went with those, including 6th row floor in one case. Only for the 1 remaining venue did I need to wait for the Amex presale. That was definitely not the case the week before, though, when the fan presale seats all seemed to sell out immediately or were way worse than what I could get with other options. I assume demand had something to do with it and there was less for the second set of shows (they do that so we'll overpay for the first shows). I'm sure that demand was inflated by the fact the unlock password was easily accessible all over this site as opposed to being sent directly only to registered users. I agree that I felt like it was much easier to get good seats through the fan presale in previous years, especially 2005. Meanwhile, I've also yet to receive an email about the album offer despite buying an Amex Preferred seat for the one venue yesterday -- with my gold tier Amex, along with the rest of the tickets. I also received an email from Amex about the presale yesterday, but it didn't mention the album. The whole album offer strikes me as weird -- only some people receiving heads-up emails, the redemption emails being sent unpredictably, etc. It seems odd that MPL would choose to have Amex effectively steal their announcement thunder, especially when it's being done in such a subtle, haphazard way.

It was only Omaha that I ended up with Ticketmaster tix, and that was also the only show that I paid with Amex. Got the email today - yeah, mine didn't say which show it was, I had to check. Had no idea of the offer, other than this thread. I used the American Express cardholder presale, which started 1 hour after the fan club presale started. Did not like the seats coming up with the fan club sale, but I think this was the first time I ever saw reasonably good seats with an Amex presale. This was the regular cardholder presale, not the "preferred".

Also bought mine during the Amex presale starting an hour later through Ticketmaster, but no emails about the album at all so far. The only difference between the Preferred and regular tickets during that presale that I could see was that the preferred were better seats. It seems odd that would be the difference, but who knows. I also wonder if the venue matters -- anyone get an offer triggered by NJ tickets yet? If I don't get an email by tomorrow I might call Amex, though I don't think that hassle is worth the price of the album.
-
Not sure that the emails received from Ticketmaster about the album offer have anything to do with Amex; friend got one and thinks it is related to tix for Tinley Park 2 which were bought with a Visa. Since no show or credit card is mentioned, it is impossible to tell what triggered these. They seem completely random. Puppywhimpers seems to be the only person who has received an email directly from American Express about this offer.
-
I bought not one but TWO shows on the AMEX presale and have not received any indication of this whatsoever.
-
This is all ridiculous It should come with every ticket bought through the pre sale. Front row, 2nd row, whatever...and whichever card you used.
-
I think it's a bit ridiculous in the first place to be selling select fans an album that has no title, no release date, and virtually no official mention whatsoever by its creator.
-
I posted in another thread that I bought a ticket to the Detroit show (2nd night) using the venue presale this morning and there was a box at check checked that "leaving this box checked we will NOT share your info with MPL Communications." No idea what that means but I am guessing it had to do with this offer? Who knows ... Time will tell!
-
I did not have that option for either presale. However, this didn't become an occurrence until the second round of NYC presales.

I figured that-as I mentioned in my original post other artists have done this type of thing to pad their album sales and add to chart positioning. Looks like with all the cds I'll be getting someone will be simply having a wonderful christmastime
