The 2012 and beyond Political Thread - Part 2

Putting plans in the process to move away and rent my home out, till the orange dust settles. I can't take it much longer... Hearing that people are moving to Canada and Mexico.

Please stay and help us fight. We can't give up so early. We have a country to save, and I'm just old-fashioned enough to believe it's worth trying.
-
The real general of defense or some such title tried to friend me on FB already, another democratic guy, had a friend request from the real VP. It's so insane, I went to school with a whole bunch of kids whose parents were tattooed in the Holocaust. They didn't leave in time. I love this country more than you know, it may be easier to deal with it from a safer distance. I'm trying to determine where that place is, I live in the middle of the red zone. I have given myself a year to figure out the best plan. I'm not a quitter, think smarter is more of where I'm headed...

But is anyone actually fighting? People love to complain, but half of the country doesn't even bother to show up on election day. What was the voter turnout in 2016? 55%? Remember 2012? Republicans were outraged at everything Obama said and did. He was a communist/fascist/Muslim/dictator/black man who had to be stopped at all costs. Obama was so terrible, there was no way Romney could lose. How will 2020 be different from 2012?

LtR, Mike Pence tried to befriend you on FB ?? Really? Wow. Canada looks good to me. Very. But I don't have a house there And I do love this country, the U.S. of A. And the sister I live with has severe agoraphobia, and can't even leave the house, much less move to Canada. I couldn't run off and leave her behind.

Uh, have you been to any of the marches, protests, congressional town halls? People are roused like I've never seen before in my life (and I lived though Vietnam). They'll TRY to vote, at least if the Dems are smart enough not to nominate a corporate douche, but the first thing we have to do is resist GOP efforts to purge the voter rolls. We can win this, but it ain't gonna be easy, and we need all hands on deck.

Didn't New York City have some big riots/demonstrations going on today? Huge protests? Looked like they were raising all kinds of hell !! Talk about "Street Fighting Man"

I went to some of the Occupy Central protests, but that's a different topic. Protests are great, but I bet most of the people protesting right now were never the biggest Trump fans to begin with. Trump is practically begging people to vote for Democrats. The Democratic Party should be able to take back congress in 2018 and the White House by a landslide in 2020, but they won't. The DNC should be all over every crazy thing Trump tweets like cops on a black kid. What are they waiting for? By 2020, everyone will be used to him. His ranting and raving will be old news. The RNC is much better at getting their fans on board. Ask 10 random Republicans on the street if Obama was a socialist and/or Muslim and at least 9 of them will say he was, even if they know better. Imagine if Obama had said half the things Trump tweets. The RNC would have worked up their base enough to literally storm the White House and lynch him. Had Clinton won, there would already be congressional meetings to impeach her. What are Democrats doing to get the 50% of Americans who don't bother to vote to actually show up next time?

I'm not going to defend the Democratic Party establishment, which sets new standards for ineptitude at every opportunity. We're going to have to do this ourselves. And we can, if we don't give in to despair.

"Donald Trump Jr. Is An Idiot!" ~ Mainstream Conservative Media Not to insult the squirrels...but it seems the..."wall" nuts... don't fall far from the tree. I will say one very good thing about Donald. He has a powerful work ethic which was pounded into him by his father, but it takes more than a work ethic to be public servant number one to all American people. If having a work ethic was the most important virtue, and what makes a person wealthy, then everyone in congress would be speaking Spanish with their pockets full of gold doubloons... Oh wait...They are!!!

Bruce, I'm afraid you are correct... What are you thinking we should do. As you know the police will be hassling us, and the real VP and real army guys will be trying to intimidate us too...we need a plan.

An article in the new Time magazine is upsetting, about world leaders at the recent summit for "the world's richest countries" feeling a paucity of respect from POTUS for "free speech, democracy, even free trade" and they adopted a policy of "moral flexibility" in response to "lack of leadership" from the U.S. World leaders there allowed Trump's M.O. to influence them in the matter of ethics and responsible values. Instead of sort of pouncing on him and giving him a crash course in the right way to think, act and be, for the present and future of the world and its people and nature and environment. For the general well being. Why didn't they? At least, that's what the article implies. It's disturbing. Agonizing and anxiety-inducing. One feels on the verge of hot tears.

Organize! Lots of organizations are out there -- Indivisible chapters, Our Revolution, Swing Left, Brand New Congress. Not saying I agree with everything all of them do, but lots of folks are organizing outside of the party establishments, doing everything from street protests to recruiting/training/funding candidates. We will need all of the above.

Donald Trump:
Jeff Sessions takes the job, gets into the job, recuses himself. I then have - which, frankly, I think is very unfair to the president. How do you take a job and then recuse yourself? If he would have recused himself before the job, I would have said, "Thanks, Jeff, but I can't, you know, I'm not going to take you." It's extremely unfair, and that's a mild word, to the president.
Eloquence aside, Trump just admitted that he and Sessions knew the Russian shenanigans would be investigated before he even took office. Is the DNC paying any attention?

For me, this is the straw that broke the camels back... Trump has just tweeted, that he is barring any transgendered people from serving in the military...in any capacity... Just horrendous... http://www.latimes.com/politics/washington/la-na-essential-washington-updates-trump-transgender-people-will-not-be-1501074883-htmlstory.html

People are likening the Boy Scout Speech to a Hitler Youth Rally. The Leaders of The Boy Scouts aren't very happy with the things he said.

Trumps government has just notified Alaskan's Senator Lisa Murkowski -R that the whole state of Alaska will be retaliated against because of her vote against Obamacare repeal opposition. It's no surprise because she's a woman and smart women are hated by Trump. This is insane behavior. I'm going with Donald Trump is clearly insane. https://www.adn.com/politics/2017/07/26/trump-administration-signals-that-murkowskis-health-care-vote-could-have-energy-repercussions-for-alaska/

I'd amend that slightly: Trump is insane. The people around him in the White House, along with the GOP Congress, are cynical and calculating, literally not caring how many people they kill. They're voting to destroy healthcare TONIGHT, probably after midnight Eastern time. There is STILL time to call your senator via the Capitol Switchboard, 202-224-3121.

Apparently we're not the only ones thinking along those lines...a couple of senators caught on a hot Mike think so too!! https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/07/25/senators-on-hot-mic-trump-is-crazy-im-worried/?utm_term=.487a53eb683f Trump also said he consulted with generals about his transgender ban, which he said is causing the military a lot of money. There are no facts to back up that statement. Apparently the military is spending an insane amount of money on viagra, not transgendered people in the military!!! http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/27/politics/trump-military-transgender-ban-joint-chiefs/index.html I keep seeing a photo of him being taken out of the White House, in a straight jacket...

James Cordon responded perfectly to Trump's continued unethical and unconstitutional insanity with this excellent reply...
