FINAAAAAAALLY. gahhappiness! i will do a full review of the album when i get the chance but all i've got to say is it was well worth the wait. am i right, or am i right? ^_^

I got mine today! Whooray! It sounded good on iTunes at work, but it sounds GREAT in the car! If you like the CD, you'll LOVE it live! It's interesting...on "Goin' Down Swingin'" the opening guitar riff is much louder when it's live, whereas the album version concentrates on the drums! Both are great, though! I have to say that "I Liked You Better" is probably my favorite song, because it's the one that got stuck in my head after seeing Brian live for the first time.

alright, ladies and gentleman! here is my track by track review of MONDO MAGNETO. just had to, lol...hopefully i'll do *B* some justice... FIRSTLY!: the album sleeve/booklet/cd- LOVVVVE IT. the cover is brilliant (jazzercise!...to my friends @ the BR.com boards haha), and that just has to be my favorite shade of pink. it's like pure rock candy and i want to lick it. the pictures and art, just fabulous! GOOD FOR NOTHING: well we were lucky enough to hear this one on his myspace and in that neat little postcard. what a great song. i love the intro, the lyrics are light but a bit dark at the same time which i think is awesome. and the "gooooood, gooooood, goooood" WILL get stuck in your head VINYL: this one sort of has a pretty lo-fi, vinyl feel to it, no? i love this song, it's been stuck in my head...really stuck! really shows how valuable the great classic albums are to brian, if i may say so. and boy can i relate! GOIN' DOWN SWINGIN': yum, does this one ever RAWK! yes. i said "rawk". i love the intros to each song, the fuzz on this one is so great. ok if brian submitted this tune to MTV, you'd better believe he'd have a huge hit on his hands...at least that's what i believe. very hot song. and BM's favorite SOFT MACHINE: ahhhhh, what to say?!? once again, amazing intro. this is my favorite song. etta and brian's voices complement one another magnificently! the lyrics, the melody...perfect. I LIKED YOU BETTER: hehehe, i had heard about this one from the ladies who were lucky enough to see it live, seems to be a crowd pleaser! i can tell why. funny lyrics in a very honest way. tearin' up the town like a new york punk...that's my favorite line ALL I KNOW: what a beautiful song. brutally honest i think, i read about it on his website and knew i'd love it before i'd even heard the tune or read the lyrics. all i know...is i don't know- what a great statement. COMING UP ROSES: hearing this one is like hanging out with a good friend, lol. i've been listening to it since, oh, about may? and it's still effing good. i really appreciate the lyrics and the story, he hit the nail on the head, that's for sure! and it's appealing *like the whole album, if i may say so* for so many different people! SUB-ATOMIC: injected with some hendrix flavor! i love the hook in the back of the chorus, very dark chords and harmonies...then it kind of resolves itself when it gets back into the verse...ow ow! and...how about that co-writter? goooo ABE! IF YOU'RE LEAVING ME: i adore this track. i just. do. ANYWHERE BUT HOME: take me somewhere, i don't care where we go. take me anywhere but home....yesss. complaints: IT'S TOO SHORT! lol...no...really there isn't anything to complain about. from start to finish, just an amazing debut from our man. i'm so proud to be a brian ray fan/friend!!

Great review, Dollie. I almost don?t know where to begin with mine. This album has been a long time coming. Some of us fans have been bugging Brian to release a record of his own for almost two years and, in a way, it?s hard to believe that it?s really happened. I?m extremely picky about the music I listen to and it takes something really amazing to get my attention, but Mondo Magneto has barely left my CD player since I got it. The entire album rocks [rawks?] from start to finish. It?s loud, melodic, vibrant, honest, raw, witty, powerful? The playing is excellent throughout ? you can tell the best of the best are on this album. Brian?s lyrics are honest and meaningful, and you just know that the words come from his heart. I love every single song on the album. 1. Good For Nothing: FANTASTIC song! It has a great intro and really starts the album off with a big bang. Even though the lyrics are a little dark, it still had an upbeat feel to it and makes me smile! 2. Vinyl: This is one of the songs that really stood out for me when I heard it live. It tells the story of a guy who drives across America in his dad?s old car with his record collection in the boot/trunk, only to have them all stolen away one night. I love the intro on this one, too; it?s very retro sounding. That?s actually one of the great things about Brian?s songs ? they all have cool intros that grab you as soon as the music starts. 3. Goin? Down Swingin?: Initially, this wasn?t on my ?favourites? list ops: [which now consists of the entire album]. I have no idea why. But oh boy, has it ever grown on me. It?s one of my favourites to listen to while I?m driving and I always crank up the volume a little when it comes on. 4. Soft Machine: This is my overall favourite track. I LOVE IT!!!!! It's a very sexy song. Etta James sings on it with Brian and her voice gives it a slightly bluesy feel. I can?t describe how good this song is, you have to hear it. Fantastic intro on this one, too. Strong lyrics with a sinister edge. 5. I Liked You Better: I love, love, LOVE this one!!! It?s so clever and funny - and so true. This is my favourite part: ?We used to roll around all night long with nothing on? ? our minds.? Hehe! 6. All I Know: This is a gorgeous ballad that really has the ?wow? factor. It should be on the radio. Abe sings backing vocals on it and they sounds eerily similar to many of the backing vocals on BITUS. Beautiful lyrics. 7. Coming Up Roses: As Dollie said, this one is like an old friend. I?ve been listening to Roses since February and it?s grown and grown on me. 8. Sub Atomic: ?Where?s my medication, liquid patience, for all occasions?. Yeah!!! This one?s firmly stuck in my head! 9. If You?re Leaving Me: Beautiful. Heart-breaking. Perfect. I get goosebumps listening to it. 10. Anywhere But Home: This one gives me goosebumps, too. It?s a very atmospheric song and actually made me cry the first few times I listened to it. That's not a good thing when you're driving. The lyrics are very evocative and the guitars are heavy and loud. One of the best songs on the album, imo. The packaging: OMG it?s delicious!!! The warm pink colour is incredibly eye catching - can?t you just imagine being drawn to it if you spotted it in your local friendly record store? Great choice, I think. Now I just want to lie down on that big, comfy bed and snuggle up with? ?those lovely cushions.

thanks fi, i loved reading your review too and i agree on most everything you wrote. i'm very picky about my music as well...and it'd be easy to think that i'm so enthusiastic about this album because i just plain like brian, but that isn't the case at all! same is true for rusty's "undressing underwater"- it's just good music! a job well done. and by the way, i had my friend who likes mostly pop music listen to just one track in her car and she said (half way through the song) i need to burn this!! now that's an accomplishment!

Sorry to interrupt the MM euphoria, but I couldn't NOT say that I saw the Chicago shows the other night.....Brian was great, as usual. It was really noticeable how many more guitar changes he had this time. He plays acoustic on a couple more songs this tour. I liked the new bass...not 100% sure because of the lighting, but it looked a bottle green type colour. He did have the red one he used when we saw him live in LA. He used the Gretsch a lot more this time, which is still my fave....it sounds great on those early/mid Beatles songs and he looks good with it. I'm trying hard not to mention songs because I know some people want to keep the setlist a surprise!! Again, I'm not totally sure because it all flashes by so quickly when you're actually there, but I think he did more vocals this time, too. He wore black both nights - and a shirt I have never seen before. It had like a gold thread running through it that made diamond shapes. No pinstripes. When Brian was introduced on the first night he said hello to some friends of his from High School and the second night he talked about how much he liked Chicago because of the musical influences, and he mentioned Etta and Muddy Waters amongst others. They were great, great shows. I wish I could get along to more of them. Those of you who are still waiting are in for a treat!

I'm glad you had a good time in Chicago Caroline I wish i was going to more shows too !!
