Hi Val (Blondie 10). Ignore me and Cesar (Cbimbi). We're just fooling around. But I will look forward to meeting with you someday. And you'll gasp at how good American English are. Love and hugs. Sam.

Hi Sam I agree with you that Hip Hop is boring and the beatles is where its at. IT is so good to see young people turning on to them. THey are timeless and I'm sure my great great grandchildren will love them too. I talked to a lady who met Ringo because her ex husband is good friends with him and she said he was a real nice guy. I aked ehr if I could meet him but she didn't know him like her ex husband did. She is a very lucky woman to have done so. Anyway like the beatles sang All You Need Is Love I heard the saying Spread THe Love,do you think this would make a great song title?
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). Yes `Spread The Love' (or `Spreading The Love') is an excellent title. Why don't you write a song on that theme ?? You never know...you might have talent that you haven't yet realised. Make a start tonight. I'll be AWOL until Saturday morning. Try to have it written by then. Cheers. Sam.

Sam, I will try. There is a lady at work who says Spread The Love alot so I thought it would make a good song title. Maybe I could ask her to help me make some words to it. Do you think it is a song that John or Paul could have recorded?

Blondie 10, Orlando Florida? I'm in Ft. Lauderdale. There will be a Hard Rock Cafe sponsored Beatle event at City Walk, where you are, in February. Some of my Beatle art will be there with Beatlesartonline. Orlando is gorgeous, we almost moved there, my husband is in the Audio visual business and Portofino Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel have AV departments in them run by the business that my hubby works for.

Hi,Paulfan.. If I were you I´d try to eat something very heavy at dinner. Then, off to bed. And then, there would be a chance for you to have some dreams. And a music could happen to come in mind, the same way Paul [ the McCartney ] did with that song ... yesterday... do you know it? cheers,

Have a great weekend everyone! Val, thanks for the nice words about my art! I did Winking Paul when I was in high school, I used to read Beatlefan magazine back then and drew it to send into them. A a guy who was writing a Beatle book saw it and asked me if he could publish it. It's in a book called "As I Write This Letter". I have always loved the Beatles, and most of my happiest childhood memories are associated with them. They are also gorgeous, don't you agree? All around amazing! There has never been anything like them and will never be!!

Hi again Ian (Foolonthehill). Allan Williams has a new book coming out called "The Fool On TH e Hill". It should be a winner....but not as good as mine, heh, heh. Your mentioning Eppy in your sign off reminds me when I advised him and Paul, at the Empire Theatre in March 1963, to do `Twist & Shout' after `Please Please Me' and `From Me To You' I told him it would become their biggest hit. Brian laughed at me and said.."Sam, that just isn't commercial enough." Then when Brian Poole did his single of it, the Beatles rushed out an EP which got to #2, the only EP to ever get that high in the singles charts. If they'd listened to me a little earlier we may never have heard of Brian Poole and it would have been the Beatles biggest record ever. Oh well... Cheers. Sam.
Hi Sam, Nice story. I have always thought Twist & Shout one of the best early Beatles recordings! As a man in the know what are eps all about? I'm a little too young (43) to recall the early 60's when they were all the rage. Why eps? I think I read that they were to cater for fans who couldn't afford an album, is this true? I note that the early Beatle albums were split up to make eps. What about Magical Mystery Tour (a double ep). Was this the only one ever? By the way that reached No. 2 also. Did you just mean single ep when you said about Twist & Shout being only no. 2? Anyway the big game starts soon so COME ON YOU BLUES........... Best wishes Ian

The thing I don't understand in the early Beatles is why "Love Me Do" was choosen as first single. I Saw Her Standing There or Do You Want To Know A Secret would have reached #1 instead of the famous Love Me Do #17. Twist and Shout would have made it too, but actually it was an accident it was recorded, just to record a 14th song on Please Please Me.

Hi Ian (Foolonthehill). First of...commiserations as you know by now Liverpool beat Everton 3-0. I'm afraid EFC reverted to their `Dogs of War' policy and what little football was played came from us. Everton did make a few chances but it was more by force than skill. Yet if Dave gets his act together and starts playing the footbal they showed last year he'll be okay.Re the Twist & Shour EP there was no EP charts then and it had to be lodged in the Singles charts. Maybe EP's (Extended plays) were mini albums for those who couldn't afford to buy albums...that's possible. I mean we get CD's whith only a few tracks on them which is similar marketing. I'm not certain though. I'm about to reply to a bloke who's querying why Love Me Do was their first release so take a gander shortly. BYW we'll be above Evertyon now. Things are back to normal, heh, heh. Cheers. Sam. Cheers. Sam.
-
Hi Oliver (21stCenturyPaul). I thought we were all in the 21st Century by now. heh, heh. Re your query on Love Me Do it was almost inevitable that The Beatles first record would `only' reach a lower position in the charts. After all they were a new group just dipping their toes into the big pool of the recording industry which was controlled by other labels and artistes. Reaching #17 was in fact a major truimph for a new band. Twist & Shout was always a popular number in the Beatles performances. Clearly Eppy wanted to have the advantage of a song written by Paul and John because of the royalties and prestige it gave them. Which made sense and was why he told me Tiwst & Shout "wasn't commerical". My arguement was that having got to the British public's notice with their first three releases (Love Me Do, Please Please Me & `From Me to You') `Twist and Shout' would have been a record breaker and firmly established them as potential Super Stars on the International scene. Which it evetually did anyway. Twist & Shout was their `Coup De Grace' at the Royal Command Performance. And even today it still brings everyone to their feet, especially at American English performances. I'll take a look at your songs later this weekend. I'm still recovering from having to be up today at Dawn to watch Liverpool hammer Everton. (See my previous post to Foolonthehill). I'll be gone for a few hours...but I'll be baaaack. Cheers. Sam.
