Earth Aid - Do You Think Paul Will Do It?
-
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070215/ap_en_ot/gore_concerts Sounds great! I can't wait for this! Do you think Paul will participate though? What about Roger and Pete? Kel

I looked at the title of the thread and thought well if he does I promise not to watch. love doris.
-
...rather that than the diana fiasco.
-
He will probably be involved in some way, but possibly not doing a full set. He doesn`t have a rehearsed band at the moment.

Hahaha. That's good, Doris! Yeah, I hope he's involved with it, even if he doesn't do a full set. Kel

I heard about it on the radio this morning and I love the idea and I hope Paul is involved somehow!

I thought something along those lines as well!

I Noticed Earth Aid was added in Well if he does a performance that would be great the other way I still don't like to watch. love doris.

According to the article most artists that are "confirmed" so far, are... well , you know! So I hope that either there will be more quality in the final line-up (including Paul) or that Paul won`t participate... I don`t want him to perform alongside such losers; I can still remember him at last years Grammies : (but Moggys probably right... still better than the Diana-fiasco... at least it`s for our environment and not for some promiscuos princess)...

The trouble with these charity dos is that paul ends up doing dodgy duos with people like may, John, Collins, Knopfler , Joel ect and making himself look like a Cliff Richard type has been. It is something Paul feels strongly about though. I assume Annie Lennox is on

yeah, awful, that`s the point! It`s sad that good causes and charities always attract that sort of people! As John Lennon once put it: "bit by bit, gradually, until this complete craziness is surrounding you and you're doing exactly what you don't want to do with people you can't stand, the people you hated when you were ten."
-
And we all could complain now that Paul is always doing the same songs at such events... how cool is that then? Anyway, I think they're trying to get a message out there and no matter how dodgy a performer might be in one opinion, they may reach someone else! In over 100 performers I'm sure there will be something for everyone! And personally I don't think that the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Melissa Etheridge are dodgy! Obviously just a hand full of performers has been anounced so far and I think they might be still in talks with other performers! Those few named are certainly not going to do the seven shows all over the world! One stage is in London and Paul obviously enjoyed Live 8 and so I think there's a good chance that Paul is going to be a highlight of Live Earth too especially since he showed during his 1989/90 and 1993 tour how much it means to him to save the planet!!!
-
It is for a good cause on the face of it, but these back slapping affairs always make me cringe.
-
how about aiding the planet one they dont use their planes for a week and two you all turn off your computers and tellys for a day.
-
no problem with the tv !

To be honest, Paul has never done any "dodgy duets" at these events.I wonder how many of those people you have listed will be involved anyway - that`s a bit of an 80`s line-up. Why assume that Annie Lennox is involved and then laugh? She is someone else with integrity who only allies herself to charitable causes when it is something she sincerely believes in.

I have seen him on stage with the has beens i mentioned(probably at the Princes trust, plus he played with Joel at the rock and roll whatever its called induction...another absolut waste of time) I think he as been on the same stage as tina turner ops: His duet with that rapper at the grammies was awful. I care about Paul, his music and his image. These people lost intrest in music and musical integrity many years ago. If he played with Townshend, Dylan, Neil Young, fair dos , but not this lot again. Annie Lennox turns up at EVERY cause .

I would hope if he takes part in Earth Day, it would be similar to the last time he participated in Earth Day back in 1993. He was on tour then and basically performed a scaled down version of that tour's set list...except that he added Mother's Nature's Son...which hadn't ever been performed live before and wasn't performed again until the 2002 tour. The only other difference was that all the participants from the day (plus other stars) joined Paul on stage when he and his band performed Hey Jude. As an aside, I once had the opportunity to converse with Andrew Gold via the internet (of Thank You For Being A Friend and Lonely Boy fame) and asked him if he had ever done anything with Paul McCartney. His response was that he was part of that group of musicians who joined Paul on stage during that Earth Day moment I listed above...that was his only true connection with Paul McCartney. I had previously thought that Andrew had some connection with 10CC (maybe helped produce or something...I think-I don't really know what I was thinking) and had some idea that maybe their paths had crossed at some other time.

I don't understand this! People already argue about the people who are going to perform TODAY! It's for a good cause, bloody hell! So Annie Lennox turns up at every cause... well, Paul has been involved with a lot of things in his live and he showed up at many benefit concerts... in fact, he was THE highlight of some benefit concerts! So I guess he'd better stay home! Seems like everybody except Paul isn't good enough to perform and everybody else isn't good enough to be on stage with Paul! You know, if this was Paul's attitude he'd be stoned by the press and some of his fans wouldn't be pleased about it either! There are some people who are trying to do something good, who make a point in saying that not only people are in need but the planet we live on... if you think you can do better then go ahead! And if you don't like the people who are going to perform then stay at home or don't watch it! If someone else would say: "*sigh* a benefit concert and who's there again singing 'Let it be' and 'Hey Jude'... goddamn Paul McCartney!" there'd be a huge outcry on this board! What a shame!
