Earth Aid - Do You Think Paul Will Do It?

moggy:
I have seen him on stage with the has beens i mentioned(probably at the Princes trust, plus he played with Joel at the rock and roll whatever its called induction...another absolut waste of time) I think he as been on the same stage as tina turner ops: His duet with that rapper at the grammies was awful. I care about Paul, his music and his image. These people lost intrest in music and musical integrity many years ago. If he played with Townshend, Dylan, Neil Young, fair dos , but not this lot again. Annie Lennox turns up at EVERY cause .
I think i look at things from a different angle. Paul Weller recently turned down a cbe , and when it was mentioned about doing a duet with James Blunt at the brits, Paul answered " i would rather eat my own s***" thats the rock and roll atittude i love ,not mixing with royalty arse kissing has beens who hav,nt had a original musical idea for decades

Word (especially the underlinded parts)! I think the whole thing is a great idea (Earth Aid) but why not do it with dignity and artistic integrity; okay first and foremost it should be about the good cause (the environmental stuff)... but if they get cool people to join in the whole thing would be of a higher value. I remember many people declined the offer to perform at Live8 (like for instance Damon Albarn); not because they don`t care about saving the planet, but because it would have been too much of an embarrasment... it`s still pop-music, so it`s also about avoiding to become Phil Collins!

It can be done.....'.help' the first warchild cd was excellent, mainly because it drew on credible artists instead of ' the same old faces' I am biased but i consider Paul still a artist with integrity, even after all these years. In the last few years he has released ...'chaos' ' rushes' ' the liverpool sound collage' and ' ecce cor meum' ...all bursting with new ideas. I want to see him where he should be , alongside musicians who mean something still, like the charity song with Weller / Gallagher, or on tv with Travis and Belle and Sebastian. Not with someone like Rod Stewart....." i cant be bothered writing songs any more" It is a good cause , but i love Paul and his music.....i just don,t want his reputation spoiled by appearing at cheesy events ( which this may or may not be.....RHCP is a step in the right direction)

which this may or may not be....
good point. maybe it would be better first to keep our mouths shut We already started complaining before anything has been confirmed (but we`re music-lovers/record collecting nerds, so I guess it`s in our genes )!

Yeah We just know how these things NORMALY end up. Good point about damon Albarn, he also refused to attend the ' rule Britania' nonesense when Tony Blair first got into number ten. I bet the others wish they had stayed away !

Noel has repeatedly said so (especially that photo with him and your prime minister sipping champagne wasn`t very good for his image )

Jarvis wrote ' ' cocaine socialism' about it . He didn,t go either . As for not watching it...i won,t . I am not a hypocrite. I didn,t watch the Brits the other night, even though Amy Winehouse was on. The Artic monkeys don,t turn up for these shindigs....every credit to them. I assure you if i was a talented famous musician i would go down the road of weller/ strummer/ Albarn/ cocker route.

on the other hand, Paul shook hands with Putin. If Jarvis would write a song about that, it would probably be called "caviar capitalism"

I still hope Paul does it. Any news on Roger and Peter? They just wrapped up a tour, so they might not be wanting to perform again for awhile. Kel

That's all fine but there are also people in this world who are tired of Paul (yes there are) and there are certainly people who seriously don't want to see Paul with any of the Gallaghers ever again (for example, because you mentioned it) but if Paul should decide to perform with them, I'd have to live with it! So the point is: they can't please everyone! I get your point... it's for a good cause and it shouldn't be cheesy but it should be done with dignity but I'm afraid the bottom line is they can't please everyone! And all performers haven't been announced yet anyway so I guess we just wait and see...

They do have a tour coming up in the UK, Glastonberry and one at Knowsley ( Liverpool )....so they are keeping it going.
-
I belive he would do it, at his concerts in the 90s his tour books covered much on being good to the planet. Its a cause he really believes in. So sure I think he will be there.

Well... again I'm somewhat visionary... I posted a week ago or so... that, what can musicians do about climate change... some concerts? Here they come... I don't think the concert themselves mean much... people already knows about the thing, is not a thing you can hide... , you know. So, well... Maybe the oppossite would be better, stop all the music! musicians in strike... but anyway... I don't think... it would mean a thing... Things are not gonna change until serious things happen because of climatic change... like I said somewhere... Until then, let's go on with the show.

http://liveearth.org/?p=22 there's the official page.
-
he did live 8 so why wouldnt he do this.
-
It would be good if he does it. Obviously Paul's choice. I think due to his commitment to the environment, he probably would do it. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
-
I Think that Live8 was, is and will be the best concert in the world.... I Would Like LiveEarth if there comes groups from both LiveAids, Like Sir Paul, The Stones, U2 or Coldplay, you know
-
I'll bet my hard earned he'll appear only if he's allowed to close the show...
-
Opening the show. . .closing the show. . .whatever, as long as he does it! Kel
