Paul does touch on the new album in his latest "You gave me the answer" from Yvonne.  It was a good question asking Paul if he has ever intentionally explored "Latin" music and rhythms.

Paul tells us that the new album does have one song that is "decidedly" Latin.  He then says that he's not sure the song will make the cut for the final album's track listing.  Paul's never been good a song selection for albums over the years so if it doesn't make it onto the album, it's almost a sure thing that it will be better than many of the songs that do make the cut.  Wouldn't shock me if it becomes a "B" side that everyone on this board will crave.  Anyway, it is a good sign that it appears that he has a lot of songs vieing for a spot on the album.  Hopefully more good to great new songs for his "massive Solo" Catalog that is so underrated.

The final part of this "You gave me the answer" episode is "trying to get Paul to give us more info on the new album but they tell us that Paul's lips was sealed on specifics.  I'm guessing Fall of this year (September-October) to take advantage of the holiday buying period.

Sadly McCartney does not have a good track record with selecting songs for his albums and picking the best single to promote the new album.  Like you have stated before BJ, many songs that don't make the cut are better than songs included on the album. This is where you hope he has a good producer who he will listen to about the songs he needs to select.  I agree with you on the release of the new album, don't see it coming out before late fall.

Seems right. I can’t see anything out before then.

Yep. I think he may release a single around Labor Day and then the album will follow a few weeks later.

Seems right. October would make 5 years since the last album. The latest I could see would be early 2019.

I definitely miss his presence. Don’t know why but I felt like saying something just now.

It makes me sad for his friends and family. I can remember way back in the early 2000s his posts. Just seemed like a great person. I also wonder what he might think of the archive releases, newer material.

Most of all that life is precious, and all of us here are more than just screen names.

Just sending love out there to him, his family, and everyone.

I dreamed I heard part of a new McCartney song and it sounded soooooooooooo good...it's always an experience to actually hear music in a dream (*especially Paul's). I was running around in Tangier, Morroco with Mama (she appears in a lot of my dreams) and heard a snippet there in some kind of shop, and then some wild sounding Arabian music blared out in the desert surrounding the exotic city, quite a contrast to Paul's singing.

      Very cool dream and imagery.

      Bob Gannon:

Besides these titles, it's strange that there seems to be no Beatles-related archive release at all this season, Paul or otherwise, unless I'm missing something?

You do seem to be missing something. Late March, the McCartney team released the latest Archive in Flowers in the Dirt. They have never had more than one archive release on different dates. They have occasionally released pairs on the same date but not on split dates. As far as Beatles, they released the 50th Anniversary Sgt Pepper boxed set in June. And BTW, it's awesome!!! As far as George, John and Ringo's solo sets, they have never released huge archive boxed sets celebrating a single album like MCCartney. However, John and George have both released boxed sets of their albums remastered. John in a single boxed set and George with two smaller boxed sets. At this point, Ringo is the only one left to remaster and re-release his solo catalog. In addition, John has released a large Anthology box with lots of outtakes. I really doubt much more is left in the Lennon vaults. There would be no reason to expect additional archive sets by either Paul or Apple. But these release of the Concorde sets sans bonus tracks actually is smart and would have been eventually done to restock the shelves with all of the sets now available under the Capitol label instead of the original Concorde label that Paul was with at the time of their original release. Plus, Christmas time is the best time to put those things back out there. I think initially, they had expected the new studio album by Paul to be done by now. I say this as they offered copies as part of ticket buying for the concerts this year. As we all know, new album is not coming this year and by recent interviews is not even done yet

Bob, A few follow up questions/comments: 1.) When you think no more archive sets, do you mean this year for no more releases or no more releases from that series this year? 2.) Re: Lennon - Think I agree that there may not be much left in the vaults. I'm in my early 40s and have been able to collect a lot since early 1990s. I know probably not feasible from a strictly business standpoint, but could there ever be an archive series like Paul for John's albums (2cd plus deluxe packages). 3.) Re: above, something like this for George? 4.) I know least likely for Ringo, but what about a set that brings all out of print albums back onto cd (like the 1994 re releases of Stop and Smell The Roses, Ringo The Fourth, Bad Boy, including Time Takes Time, all while adding bonus tracks to each one out of print.). Essentially a Ringo box from say 1970 to around 2000, at the very least? Interested in feedback.

Excellent new radio interview with Mark Lewisohn can be heard at this link: http://talkradio.co.uk/late-night-alternative-iain-lee The bad news is that part 2 0f his Beatles book looks like its being pushed back to 2021 or even 2022. 😞

      2021? :

Well, what was the Unabridged Part I, like 2,000 pages? And all that research and interviewing. So I guess that's not that long to wait. But yeah, a lot of us may be reading Part III in wheelchairs and retirement homes methinks!

Probably mid fifties for me, assuming that the schedule holds without any delays.
