The Madrid judgement quote is very usual of a Barça supporter.
No it's not. It's a fact. Real Madrid went out two rounds ago. Lost at home to Osasuna. Am I wrong?
I mean you always compared yourselves to Real Madrid, not to good or bad, or first or last. "If they failed, we can fail" or so.
I only said that because you, a Real Madrid fan, offered your opinion of Barcelona. Playing good or bad means nothing to me. Since you're so much into talking about playing good football, which would you rather see Real Madrid do: Lift the trophy having played ugly football, or finish second place playing 'jogo bonito'?

Samuel Eto'o on January 3rd... "What we have done before is not worth a thing. The fans come to the stadium to see us win and it does not matter how. We have to win and pick up points. I want to win, win and win, whether we play badly or not. The only thing that is worth anything to me is points. It is what the supporters want. To do that you have to attack, score and then attack again. At times we become obsessed with wanting to touch the ball and pass and pass. But if you do not score it does not matter what else you have done. In the end, what really counts are trophies. If we win one or more then the streets will be full of people again. The defeat (to Real Madrid before Christmas) does not mean the league is won, but it will have boosted their confidence. Even if we do not win it, we have to keep going and trying right up until the final day. We have to believe that every game is a final. The last thing you lose is hope. When we have won the league in the past it was easy as we left everyone behind, but now we have to come from behind. If we can do that then we realise that we are capable of anything."

Poll conducted by SPORT shortly after Eto's quotes: At present, what philosophy do you believe should define Barcelona? Total Votes: 10,323 67% - "Win, win and win" 27% - Win with beautiful play 5% -- Beautiful play above everything else 1% -- other Ideally, you want your club to win while putting on a good performance. But bottom line, winning IS everything. I'll take winning over "champagne football" 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

I think football's itention is to be fun, so I prefer a 4 X 3 win for my team then a boring 1X0... :

You're only seeing half of what I'm talking about. Would you rather see your team play exciting football but LOSE 3 X 4 or Would you rather see your team WIN a boring 1 X 0? Everyone wants to see their team win playing great football. No one will ever argue that. :

I'd prefer to see them winning, of course, but I was saying teams should play in a offensive way, even thought the defence might get weaker, the attack will score more and thats what fans really like... And I rather see my team loose by 4X3 then see it loose by 1X0

That's the point I'm trying to get across to Paul.
21st Century Paul:
I mean you always compared yourselves to Real Madrid, not to good or bad, or first or last. "If they failed, we can fail" or so.
I don't talk about "good or bad" because the only thing that matters is three points (winning). I don't talk about "first or last"? That's what I've been debating with Diamonds about. I'm saying it's too early to give the 1st place (championship) title to Real with so many games still to play? The reason I compare Barca to Real is because Real are the main rivals in the chase for the Liga. If Sevilla was in first place I'd be comparing Barcelona's results with Sevilla. You're a Madridista talking about how Barcelona played in the Copa. So why shouldn't I reply back about how Real Madrid is no longer in the tournament?

Finish second place playing jogo bonito.

Real Madrid already won with Capello playing ugly, and he was fired. And that's not an exception but kind of usual in Real Madrid. "Win, win and win" is only wanted after years of not playing well or winning a thing in Real Madrid like the 2 times Capello has signed for Real Madrid. I mind a lot the way they play. It's the cause why I would watch a game, if only the result is important I'd rather check the news when the game is over to see if they have won or not. But to enjoy the game they must play well, that's fantastic and makes football a show. It's not only a sport. For instance, in 2005 and 2006 I didn't watch any Real Madrid games but the Barça ones!. Those made me happy, I would have been happier if Real played like Barça but it was not like that. And I was surrounded of Barça supported the night they won the Champions League, as I told them it was gonna happen.
-
So basically you're saying, "Whoever is playing the best jogo bonito, then that's the team I will enjoy watching and who'd I'd like to see win." Is that correct?

Yes, kind of correct, I've often desired Real Madrid to lose, because they don't deserve to win if they bore all the supporters... As you see I'm not a "fan", not a fanatic. I like Real Madrid cause of his values such as not comparing against other clubs and not being satisfied with winning playing ugly. That's why I can not be a Barça supporters even if they played like angels for years.

You've got to be joking. You're making it sound like Real are pure and have never done a thing wrong. Don't let those white shirts fool you. Anyway, now that I know you're a glory hunting supporter, there's really no point in discussing the title chase with you any more since you don't care who wins. I'm a bit disappointed, actually. Why not talk about Arsenal then? They probably play the type of game you looking for. The Argentine league may be to your liking as well.

Because Premier League is not very watched here, having the Spanish one, I guess I would like to see Arsenal playing. What I never have liked is Chelsea. I care who wins or not. I'd like to see Real Madrid playing jogo bonito so I'd like them to win. I don't like how Barca is playing since a year ago. I prefer Real Madrid again, even if not that "beautiful", they attack a lot more and they play more like a team. I love to see 5 Real Madrid players in the others team penalty area a lot of the time, no team does that now. They mistreat the ball a lot, there's no-one in the midfield who can play the ball. (Sign Cesc!, don't be silly, before it costs you the double... if you don't like him, just buy and sell! at last...)

Interesting photograph. And the person on the right, wearing the Real Madrid shirt, is WHO?! Having lost three of their last four matches in La Liga, Real Madrid appear to be looking for any advantage they can find. :
That person is one of the most hated ever people in Spain. Villar, president of the Spanish Football Federation, yes he rules the league referee and the national team (two calamities), since 20 years ago. He has all the defects you can imagine in a person except lack of ambition, and that's a very bad combination. This season referee are "helping" both teams, Barça and Real Madrid, though that could change if they are against Villar in anything. PS you know Etoo used the hand. I was not going to talk about it, but well...

I'm glad to see that you're enjoying Real Madrid's four defeats in their last five games just as much as I am.

But well... you're a Real Madrid fan (I think, I'm not sure anymore) and since Barcelona benefitted of course you're going to bring it up even though you don't want to be like Barcelona fans who only like to compare themselves with Real Madrid... and on and on...... : Even the pro-Real Madrid daily MARCA noted that the handball was "aparentemente involuntaria". Having giving up 26 shots, I'm sure Valencia are pleased to have only conceded just the one goal.

I hate to say this but i got a feeling that Manchester United might win today and they will probably go top. Arsenal playing Aston villa - reckon it will be a difficult game as AV seem to be doing well this season and the Gunners are a striker down. So we'll probably go second... But that's football for you because you never know what is going to happen. A game full of surprises! Go Gunners - really hope you win today.
