Kahlessa:
I'm glad so many people participated in this election. That's good no matter who they voted for. I supported Obama but I think McCain is also a good and honorable man. McCain's concession speech was excellent, and struck just the right note: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/27545964#27545964
A very gracious comment

Congratulations to Barack Obama - I hope he some of his campaign promises do not happen (the ones I disagreed with ) I hope he becomes a good President and proves my doubt about him wrong. Good luck to all of us

Now we will all get to see the REAL Obama.....
Yes, that's for sure. I don't know if congratulate some cause I would have to feel sorry for others too... it's just politics. I don't know how Obama is gonna be, I only know it's gonna be better than Bush. And McCain would have been better too. And perhaps Sarah Palin too. So the real question is... how much better than Bush?. Obama has always seemed to me a great singer without a great song to sing. I mean, someone great in his ways and style, but with unclear goals, not defined, not moving. It reminds me of the Spanish president, Zapatero. All politeness and style in the campaigns too but when comes to the nitty gritty he is not such a great president at all. Just ways... Both repetead the word "change" till obsession, and "we can", etc. I still don't know what the change is here... Except in the ways of talking about the opposition party and things like that, the PR part, that Obama would do well too, I guess. At least he is a PR man, sometimes a president is only that, the PR man of a country.

Welcome Our New Commander-In-Chief President Barack Hussien Obama!
Ugh, did you have to break it out so soon?
well, not yet, next year, January 20th, he is still a Senator

Bill:
Congratulations America! We're proud of you!
Congratulations Bill. No more Bush, but that was sure anyway. Anyone but Bush "achieved" . Thanks to the USA constitution. The stock market has already started to fall. 2% in 2 hours. Somone there is scared of Obama... big companies or so, so there's gonna be an Obama effect for worse of for better, if they're scared of some change, I guess it means a change is really gonna come. I only guess, time for guessing now.

yes, the president is nothing but a guy who responds of what the people want, feel or do... Or is it the gov who makes people want, feel or do some things? "I can't think for you, you'll have to decide" Bob Dylan-With God on our side

The stock market is falling because government regulation is historically bad for the economy. Obama is for more regulation.

whether you were for him or not, if you love America, you should wish him well now. We have a lot of challenges ahead, its wasted energy to hope he screws up. My family watched last night with tears in our eyes. His acceptance speech and the people watching was breathtaking. This is tremendous news (good news) around the world. Sen. McCain was very graceful last night, those who supported him should take his lead. We need to stop being so divided, it's counter productive and ugly to the rest of the world.
Great post Denny. If he has a failed presidency everyone will lose. The stock market is down 313 as I type this. One of talking heads at CNBC is blaming Obama. Up or down, 313 isn't so unusual anymore with the Dow above 9,000. A few weeks ago it jumped and fell over 700. That's just a real good or real bad day. Recently the Dow jumped over 900 points and settled in just below 900. That's a great day. But none of those had anything to do with Obama. And numbers like that are becoming so frequent that no one remembers the dates anymore because it's nothing of historic proportions. Saying what a great or really bad president he is or will be is a waste of time because he's not even president yet. He needs to settle in and get his feet wet and be given a chance to do his job and hopefully succeed. The better he does the better it is for everybody.

I, on the oppossite think that the big change on markets are all about Obama. When he started to gain "popularity" and chances according polls, the market fell, especially after the TV debates and the Sarah Palin "strange things", the market rose when Palin was a good effect and in the end when it seemed McCain had chances cause he was decreasing the difference on polls. The financial crisis is all around of this, of course. But the good or bad days on the market made no sense as anything was solved or especially bad those days or today... or yesterday or on Monday. So I was waiting today for NY to open definitely with losses. Falling 3-4 % now, and still some hours to close.

It is refreshing just to finally have the election over. However, I am still cautious as to the reality of bringing these parties together and I am glad that McCain spoke to its importance in order to truly move forward. Although Obama won the electoral and the popular vote, he only won the popular vote by 6% of the population. That?s a lot of people who really still don?t like Obama and are now really angry that Democrats have the White House and the majority in both branches of the house. Without the proper checks and balances, the politics over the next 4 years could get really messy!

I watched CNBC and the global market is dim! Or should I say DOOMED! <SIGH> Some Americans are laughing like satin but you know--- we will wait as soon as their dear Hussein took over. Right now the investors are scared to invest--- ha ha who wouldn't?

*yawn* I'm through with gloom and doom. The Republicans were happy to have Bush elected but still could not foresee the huge mess that was to come...and now are extremely prideful and in denial. People are both happy and incredibly paranoid at the moment...but we still do not know what is going to happen. Until something does happen, whining and carrying on doesn't change anything. You are either "preaching to the choir" or "falling on deaf ears". We need to stand up, take control of the here and now and focus on what is important now, instead of speculating about a future that may or may not happen. When the man does something, then complaining might be worth it (not that it meant a whole lot during Bush's run). But as of this moment the only thing that has happened is that he has been elected...and he didn't even DO that, we did. As always though, in this country, the wheels will keep turning. We will all go about our daily lives and the cycle of politics will continue to go 'round and 'round...it's always the same in many ways with subtle changes here and there. Yet still we are always getting so upset whenever it's time for a change. This isn't the last one, the world will always be changing! And that's how it's supposed to be.

Congrats Mr Obama, Mister President! and congrats Mr John McCain on your honourable defeat
