Paul, Hampden Park, Glasgow, 20th June - ARCHIVE

those platinum seats wont all sell and they will end up re-releasing them nearer the concert to a similar price of the rest of the tickets. I feel bad for the fools who pay full price for them. I just did a mock search on ticketmaster and it seems there are still plenty tickets left of all the prices, Paul could have got an amazing crowd and an amazing atmosphere but he has been a bit of tool when it comes to pricing and the whole seating issue. he probably should have gone for a smaller venue here

I was thinking the same. There are a few folk I know who are casual Macca fans who said to me they'd go to a Glasgow gig if it ever happened. Now it's happening most have backtracked because of a. No standing, b. Ticket Prices. However, I'm thinking he might still get a good turnout (albeit not a sell out), simply becuase he hasn't played north of the border for so long. I bet though there will be a lot of very cheap tickets to be had at Hampden just before the gig starts. Chris

joebhoy79 Tour is starting in the US at the end of March, so we'll probably have a good idea then what the setlist is gonna be (if you don't want to be surprised). If you want to know now, look out the setlist for the O2 gig last Christmas. It'll probably not be too far from that. Think it's a safe bet he'll be doing his usual core of songs (Hey Jude, Live and Let Die, Let It Be etc) as well as Mull Of Kintyre. Chris

Only been to one other concert and that was memorable. 2008 Anfield He did a bit from every decade which was great. Some people don't like the fact that we all know the words and were singing along but it was magical. Never forget it. Roll on 20th June. So expect a great night.

Two and a half hours of rocking fun! Just don't make the sad mistake I saw two enthusiastic fans make at the O2 Arena in London. They watched the show come to a climax with the usual Hey Jude sing-along, saw Paul leave the stage and scampered to their car to beat the crowd. While Paul often brings a charity event to a rousing sing-along finish with this song it only signals a brief break before at least another half hour of songs - he usually make two false finishes before closing properly - you can tell because he has a special bit of banter about him and us having to go home before ending with Sergeant Peppers/The End. Exactly............. We travelled to Anfield and back to Edinburgh the same day/night so thought the concert was about to end and dashed away early to pick the car from the car park. We missed about 6 or seven songs but caught the live coverage on the radio. Someone told us that because of local council rules that live music would not be played after a certain time so thought we were right to go when we did. I will be one of the last out of the ground to be sure this time. Won't miss a thing this time.

Can anyone tell me approximately what time you think the concert will be over? My mother is under the impression that we could be back in Aberdeen in time to go to school/work the next day. Wouldn't it be more sensible just to book a hotel for a night and miss one day?
-
I don't understand why people think that Hey Jude is the end of the concert. There is at least 30-40 minutes left & about 8 songs to play. Day Tripper/ Helter Skelter/Yesterday/ I Saw Her Standing There/ Get Back/ Lady Madonna/ Srgt Pepper/ The End.
-
I honestly do not understand this compunction to hear Mull of Kintyre. hear it once in 79 with Wings that was enough, ta very much. wish i could say the same about Coming Up.

I read it may end at 10.30pm. My Mum will take the Monday off. I'm going to write a review and send my own pics of the show to The British Beatles Fan Club so they can put it in the magazine.

I believe curfew is 11pm, but I need to double check on that one

I truly think this mistake occurs as Paul offers the song Hey Jude to charity events as the curtain closer. As devoted fans that follow every last iota of info we can drain from the internet about Paul we are better prepared. But not everybody attending is that closely connected, they are no less of a fan, but can be tricked by the arrival of that song into thinking it is the end. I shouted vainly at the couple as they left the O2 but their focus on beating the rush left my call unheard. And they has so enjoyed the concert thus far, dancing, jigging and singing with great enthusiasm - these were no casual lightweights. Martin

I think the Glasgow show must be getting close to being a sell-out. There are a few tickets left from the link on Paul's offical site, and Ticketmaster do have some left, but it looks like availability is very limited now. I couldn't find anywhere that was selling tickets on the pitch other than the hugely expensive "Platinum" seats (£900 a ticket anyone?!?)

I know that Anfield can receive 52063 people for football, but how many for a concert ?

Had a quick look on TicketSoup, (which let you book upto 10 tickets a time) and they still have lots of Hampden pitch seats left (albeit at the edges): BB10 x 1 BB3 x 10+ BB11 x 10+ AA12 x 10+ AA13 x 10+ Chris

Cheers for that Chris. I hadn't looked at Ticket Soup. I already have tickets myself and I'm just trying to see how close to being sold out the Hampden concert is. Looks like he still has a way to go. I wonder if the "worst" seats - the ones at the back of the pitch and at the very sides of the stands - will sell out at all. Maybe not. When I first saw that Paul had announced a Sunday date at Hampden I thought "He'll wait for that to sell out then announce one for the Saturday night as well". I'm quite surprised that the gig hasn't sold out, I must say. I know that some people are complaining that it should have been standing on the pitch and that the tickets are overpriced, but this is PAUL McCARTNEY!! I am surprised that tickets haven't all gone already.
