Golden Earth Girl

Yeah, the lyrics on this song are kinda weird, but the song grows on me the more I hear it. The whole album does, actually. I don't love every song on it like I do "Flaming Pie," but it's definitely a little gem. I LOVE "C'mon People" w/"Cosmically Conscious" at the end

I've always loved "Golden Earth Girl." Sure, the lyrics are kinda daft, but the song has a gorgeous melody. It's probably one of my faves from "Off the Ground."

21st Century Paul:
it's the kind of song that if was on a Beatle album if would be remembered like Fool on the hill for instance, but, as it's "only" on a Paul McCartney solo album, it's seems not popular at all. At least now, time will put everything in its place.
We should do this song, Ollie.
Ok, but I'd like it to be more piano-based, more like the beginning (first minute). Maybe is very "old fashioned" but I prefer that part... like Warm and Beautiful or the Fool on the hill. I think it would sound great with bass and ac guitar appearing (and harmonies) but without drums and elec guitars. So I do piano and vocals and you do bass, ac guitar and harmonies. Is that ok?

Back in the day, Piers Morgan slated Hope of Deliverance so Macca invited him to review the whole album. Morgan (of the Daily Mirror, it needs to be said) hated that too, but gave Goldenearth Girl 10/10 and Lovers that Never Were 8/10. Despite this, Macca didn't bother releasing either as a single. The 'you make me happy' lyric is a bit rubbish on I Owe it all to You, it really needs a harmony on it to make it acceptable.

in case you forgot the tune like I did..here it is.

Thanks for reminding me. Listening to it again, I hear it differently than when I first heard it, as I always skipped over it.

Hi, Golden Earth Girl is one of my favorite solo songs from Paul. I love it and listen to it all the time. I don't really know why but cheers me up every time.

'Tis no surprise that Golden Earth Girl is my favourite Paul song. I have always assumed that it his him playing the piano. When I first heard it back in 1993 I recognised myself in the lyrics, even though it's about Linda, and it's the only song that I've come across that feels like it was written about me. That has made Paul even more special to me. It's my dream that he recognises that it's an undiscovered gem (by the masses) and one day adds it to his concert set list, even though I would cry all the way though it! My favourite line...'smiles at the sky, watching the sunset'....ahh am off to reminisce.

I am hearby testifying for the quality of this song, once again just played it like 8 straight times in my car today, listening to it really makes me question my top 5 Paul songs. Cause I have to put that song in the all time top 5 list! for me I just can't get over how perfect it is. My top 5 all time Paul song: I Saw Her Standing There Helter Skelter Lady Madonna Flying To My Home Golden Earth Girl as it stands as of 6:51 in the PM on Nov 2 2010. 10 - 4

another one on that album with the word play is "Oh I owe it all to you..", I like that kind of stuff, sweet when Paul does it. theres probably more examples on that album actually... although I have to say (sorry for always nit picking Paul! I only nit pick the music I love ), that following line "..you make me happy.." what was Paul thinking?! can't believe he liked that line...
What was he thinking? That Linda made him happy, which she undoubtedly did. And that is the reason that Golden Earth Girl is not called Fish in a Sunbeam.
I don't understand this criticism either - there are certainly a couple of lyrics from the Off The Ground album that can leave you scratching your head, but that's not one of them.

Ooo, I gotta go and disagree with you on that rich n.. I like that song too for the most part, pretty pleasant, but that line is really blah for me. There?s definitely a better 5 syllables Paul could have filled that line in with IMO. Its not always about being cool, granted.. but a cooler line there helps that song in a big way IMO. I like Off The Ground these days, lots of good bits on it

as she falls asleep she's counting fish in a sunbeam.. unbeliveably beautiful. Does anyone not like this song? Please tell me because if you don't I want to snicker at you behind your back and ponder how little you know about music Just kidding.. just listening to this song right now and its simply amazing. Freaking way to do it Paul McCartney.

Another gem buried in a rubble of the neglected.

well, that's music sometimes the best gets neglected and the most popular is not very good. When Beethoven premiered his 9th Symphony, there was so little interest that he didn't earn enough money for paying the musicians. It got very very popular with the decades and the centuries. Probably the most played music ever. Golden Earth Girl is as good as the very best moments of the Beethoven piano sonatas. kind of this

Its a Lovely Song Makes Me Think Of Linda
-
Its part of the album Off The Ground---is it even possible to buy this in the SHOPS. I cant find it anywhere!!!!
-
Golden Earth Girl is another Macca gem. Love it. I also love the 2 Elvis collaborations on OTG. Too bad they didnt write more together. But some of the songs on OTG make me cringe - Peace in the neighborhood, C'mon People, Looking for Changes, the title song - ughhh. Talk about forced. Some of his worst songs ever, imo.
