Leslie, LOVE that photo of Paul and Linda - have never seen it before!
Thanks, Nancy! I wonder if it was taken backstage during one of their concert tours. When Paul tours now, he has a special curtain backstage that he often poses for photos in front of.... and the photo above could show the curtain they used backstage at one time, who knows.... may not be a curtain though, lol
He wasn’t touring in 1987 and the pic doesn’t look to be from1989 or 1990 when he was. Anybody have any educated ideas?

^ I have seen that picture before... trying to think where from.. i don't log in here often (couldn't get used the the way the board is now etc, plus lots of stressful family stuff going on with my son) but if it comes to me and it has a date i'll let you know.
20 years ago tonight, an hour ago, is when i found out about Linda. News at ten had just started, and it was in the headlines... can still picture me my sister and my boyfriend (who is now the father of my little 18 month old who was born on Linda's birthday) all in the room at teh same time and just stunned into silence, and the big press to play cover poster was on the wall above the tv. We cried so much. Linda was just such a wonderful human being, an inspiration to me, i so wish i'd had the chance to meet her, the closest we ever got was her at least acknowledging us both in the 2nd row in a 1993 gig - we were wearing the fun clubs go veggie/stop eating animals t shirts and she spotted us and was pulling at her own top and pointing at us and gave us a big thumbs up. Even though those t shirts are so baggy and grubby now it's because of Linda we still wear them to Paul gigs, in her memory. In 96 when Paul had opened lipa with the queen in the june, when he was leaving, people mobbed his window, but i was on the other side oft he car so just stayed back, but stella was in the back seat next to him and she beckoned me forward and said can i take a photo of your t shirt (i was wearing the veggie t shirt again), and she did, and said thanks - she was about to say more but some bloke butted in and asked her how linda was doing (to which she said "good thanks") so then i stepped back again and respectfully smiled bye (sounds daft but you know what i mean). As daft as it sounds, it made me happy later to think that in the per digital age that film would've been developed and maybe she would've shown Linda a pic of "this fan in her t shirt".. i'm rambling now.. i just loved Linda so much, still do, wonderful person.

Enjoyed reading about Linda's Memorial Garden this morning, in Kintyre. Didn't know this is where her ashes were laid to rest. Would love to visit there one day.
http://www.lindasgarden.co.uk/memorialgarden.htm
From link above:
Following Linda McCartney's passing, a group of friends and admirers in Kintyre, where she had felt so at home, resolved that her memory and her contribution to Kintyre where her ashes now rest, should be recognised in a fitting manner. Thus they decided to form a small charitable trust, the Linda McCartney Kintyre Memorial Trust, in order to create a memorial garden in her memory.
After discussions with the Trustees, Sir Paul McCartney generously agreed to donate a bronze sculpture to the Trust as a centre-piece for the garden.
All other funds have been raised from individuals within the community, with the support of Argyll and the Islands Enterprise, Campbeltown and Kintyre Enterprise Trust, and particularly Argyll and Bute Council.
The garden is a quiet haven for rest and contemplation. It is the Trust's hope that in the longer term, renovation of adjacent buildings will allow an opportunity for the creation of a gallery alongside the garden where exhibits of Linda McCartney's striking Kintyre photographs may be displayed together with other aspects of her work.

I don’t think her ashes are there. They are at the farm he has.

It's possible some of her remains are in Kintyre too.

Possibly, but I doubt any of her ashes are at that memorial in Kintyre that you posted pics of merely because it wasn’t there in 1998, was it? When they say her ashes are half at the family farm in Southern England, they are referring to in East Sussex. Sorry, I didn’t make it clear which farm I meant. Does he still have the one on the Mull of Kintyre?

He probably still owns that property in Kintyre, it seems unlikely that he'd want to sell a place that has meant so much to he and Linda and their family, but we have no way of knowing for sure of course...
The memorial garden website stated that (at least a portion of) Linda's ashes are in Kintyre... they didn't say whether they were scattered or interred at the family property there, or at another location in Kintrye or at the Memorial Garden. The Garden was dedicated at the time Paul was married to his second wife, so it seems more likely that ashes would have been scattered at the family property they all loved so much, within a short time of Linda's death. Just my opinion anyway. Only the family would know for sure though.

The website page about the memorial garden said nothing about her ashes. The other link you posted did. Half in Arizona, half in Southern England which would be their place in East Sussex. In The Linda McCartney Story movie, they showed them scattering her ashes in East Sussex.

Hi Nancy, the website about the memorial garden DID indicate that at least some of her ashes are in Kintyre
from memorial garden link I posted above at http://www.lindasgarden.co.uk/memorialgarden.htm
And you are right that her remains were scattered in East Sussex. The Findagrave website (link in previous post) confirms this, and also indicates ashes were scattered in Arizona as well. If they're also in Kintyre, we just have what the memorial garden site wrote, to go by. Whoever submitted the data to findagrave may not have been a family member, so might not have had all the information available.

That's ok With all the quotes and everything sometimes it's hard to see what's there, lol
Saw another great Linda and Paul photo this morning and thought it was lovely, so had to post it! Was this taken at Stella's fashion show? Seems like they wore the Anti-Fur buttons then.

Love what the site administrator (at beatlesphotoblog.com link above) wrote with this photo, such a wonderful tribute to Linda!
Today is the 20th anniversary of Linda McCartneys passing. I don’t expect there will be much fanfare or acknowledging this date, so I’m going to.
You know the saying ‘Be careful meeting your heroes, they may disappoint you’?, that was SO not the case with Linda. I have always been a Wings fan first and foremost, I was too young to know of the Beatles when they were around. From the get go I was drawn to Linda, I guess I empathized with her being the underdog, and felt deeply for her because she was constantly attacked, for being a woman, being an individual who danced to the beat of her own drum.
I ‘totally’ got Linda, even from when I was about ten years old, I knew she was pushing boundaries and peoples buttons, because people wanted her to conform. I’d see her wearing high heels with socks, different coloured socks!, open toe shoes with multi coloured toe socks, moon boots with overalls and an ostrich feather boa, and always, ALWAYS with unshaven legs, and I would fist pump, ‘YES!!’.
People shit on her constantly for her musical ability, but the joke was on ‘every’ single person who put her down, because she knew she was there for fun, and she was doing her best. When reporters would try to trick her, or put her down, she would laugh and say ‘Are you kidding me?, most kids in high school can shake a tambourine better than me’. Fucking music and artist snobs are a blight on this earth, the irony being, Linda is now slowly being acknowledged as one of THE great female American photographers.
Women like Patti Smith, Courtney Love etc are held up as female rock icons, but I’m nominating Linda to be held up there with them, and definitely as probably the first female punk, and by punk, I mean in its raw, don’t give a fuck, just get up there and do it sense. In 1971 Paul pointed to middle C on the piano, the curtain rose, and Linda hit the ground running, learning on the go, putting herself on stage, in front of crowds just baying to take a swipe, barefoot, again with crazy stage clothes, all the while (with Paul) raising four kids without nannies, I’d say that’s pretty punk.
Over time something fantastic happened, Linda’s voice became part of some of the greatest harmonies recorded in 70’s rock. I can’t imagine all those albums, especially RAM and Band on the run without Linda’s vocals. Her bravery against the meat industry was heroic, those bastards don’t piss around in causing you trouble, even to the point of sabotaging her vegetarian meals at one point.
It was far easier to mock Linda than adore her, the mean spirited piece of filth who isolated her vocals, from a concert during the end refrain for Hey Jude, should be ashamed. Linda’s quote after this was used to mercilessly mock her?, ‘Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will break your heart’.
I did meet Linda, I did get to speak to her quite a few times, it would take me writing a novel to document all those experiences. All I will say is, I’m glad I met that particular hero, because Linda was the kindest, most engaged, interested, genuine person you could hope to meet. I’m proud to have defended and loved her all these years, she earned it, and deserved it, mismatched toe socks and all. L.I.L.Y

That was such a great tribute to Linda!

Just received my copy of Linda McCartney retrospective from Korea, A beautiful large poster of Lucky Spot and a poster of the photo that Linda took of Paul in his bathrobe, on the fence in Scotland, with James jumping off the car and Stella is on the ground. They were an excellent buy!!! I love Linda’s photos!
-
Beautiful and quite fitting tributes above. I just always imagined Linda’s ashes in a most beautiful spot on the Mull, overlooking the water and maybe amongst some beautiful flowers that she loved. You can tell how much she loved it there, from her photos. Just a thought I always had, and now it seems confirmed.
