Maccaboard: Now We Are New!
-
Why can't the spellchecker work automatically like it does in most other applications? It seems like I am using an old DOS program.
Same for adding links to an article. It used to do it automatically. Now you need to paste it into another box that comes up after finding an icon that looks like a link. Who would know that?
I'd love for that "poll" button to be moved. I have hit that button so many times by mistake.
When you click on "While you were away" it would be nice to be able to click on the last post that is listed there. It takes 4 clicks to get there now.
The youtube videos only last a little while then they are gone. What's up with that?

No, links stay there. But they put up a whole new youtube icon that is not working. Someone needs to check this stuff as a regulare person not as a mod. They see things differently. haha

Literally. I don't think we can blame the mods, but whoever is fixing this site seems to be looking at everything with their full permissions. They might not have any idea what the rest of us see.

I'm visiting more regularly again now the wheels are starting to roll again. Sad to see a lot of the experience is still as bad as it was when the upgrade was being made during the fast news days of the Australian tour.
Things which need to be fixed asap:
-
Spell check
-
Automatical links
But most importantly, the security! To not use the "https" protocol when it's involving log-in details is unheard of. Chrome is now marking this website rightfully as unsafe: https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/8/16991254/chrome-not-secure-marked-http-encryption-ssl
-
-
And the fact that you can’t just copy a link and paste it right here to make it clickable. Have to jump through the hoops to do this:
https://www.theverge.com/2018/2/8/16991254/chrome-not-secure-marked-http-encryption-ssl
(is that what you meant by “automatical” links?)
-
Yes, that's what they meant.
I'd add to the want list...embedded youtubes.
And now my pm notification (that little 1 on your envelope) doesn't work.
Does anyone really read this list at all?
-
I would love to have the option of having a black background and light colored text like we had in the past.

Ooooooh the grammar police against second language people is out again ;). Yes, I meant that.
Another thing, now I started using the forums again and experience more and more problems: multi-quote function without copypasting.

Listen, I was just asking a legitimate question - was not being the grammar police! After I made my post, I realized that was perhaps what you were referring to, so I asked the question.
-
"nobodytoldme", Nancy has been complaining about the lack of automatical links since this site "improved". She's on your side here. As I'm sure we all are.
-
I know, I know. Winky smiley was included, and all that.

Why does that little red circle not go away when you have read your pm?

Mine goes away eventually. Is yours still there?

It shouldn't be "eventually". It should be immediate.
Yes, my #1 has been there for days.

That is weird. Mine is gone by the next time I log in, so I really don’t know how long it stayed there.

It still seems to me the former "old" maccaboard format was more immediately and more easily accessible, and I still worry over whether or not all my writings since 2007 are here. Why does that little hand jiggle and wiggle so, LOL, like it's having a nervous breakdown or somethin' when you use it to click on what you want to see

If there's anything posted here that you want to save, for whatever reason, you should do it now. This new and improved site is inherently unstable. I won't be the least bit surprised if it permanently crashes.

Oh no....that's just "great"

My posts from 2007 when I first joined to first of 2010 aren't there, but it appears writings from then on 'til now are there. My best stuff here was in those first three years, though, I think. I should have had enough sense to save everything myself and print it all out even from a library printer. I hope what's there now doesn't vanish into the ethers.
It looks like a lot of members were lost in the transition from the old forum format to the new; formerly 89, 000 plus or more members (?) and now just under 11,000? A great deal of Paul (and Beatles) obsession exists on the Net, and there are beaucoup sites for that besides this one yet PaulMcCartney.com seems very special, being Macca's official website. Shame so many thousands somehow disappeared. Probably right many didn't like the new format. And don't care for change and new things, or didn't want to bother learning the ropes, or flocked to other fan sites. Many are just "ghosts"
