Verified Fan
-
I don't think I can go to the Canadian shows but I was thinking of signing up as a verified fan just in case. But then I read the fine print. "...verified fans may be selected at random to participate in presale". So if too many people sign up to be verified fans not all who sign up may get the code. Am I reading that right? Thus, to be fair to fans who really can go, I guess one should not sign up unless one really will try to buy a ticket.
-
correct-not everyone who signs up gets a code-an example would be "Springsteen on Broadway".

Verified Fans ARE selected at random to participate. Not everyone will get a code, regardless of how many people sign up.
I despise this system. No code, no way to buy tickets. Now what isn't clear is whether they are going to use Verified Fan for the regular on-sale. If they don't, then this only shuts people out of the presales.

Well that sucks.

Sure does... well, I guess it's better to register and try to get the code, than try nothing at all.... It's like you can't win the lottery without buying a ticket first....

I did 3 different verify fans sales from Springsteen on Broadway and wasn't chosen once
-
I'm sorry to hear how hard it usually is to buy tickets using that system. I hope it will work out for you all!

You are right Clayton. If you are definitely not planning on going to any of the Canada shows, don’t mess it up for those who do want to go, like Bob. What happens if you get selected but you don’t buy any tickets? It would be like “Big Boys Bickering” - f#@%ing it up for everyone!

But the code is only good for the Canada concerts. Are you planning to go to one if you are selected?

Bob didn't mess anything up for Springsteen.what I am pretty sure he is saying is that even tho he was registered, he never got a code at all. So he was unable to buy tickets during 3 separate onsales because TM never chose him. He would have bought had he been allowed to do so. Many people got shut out of the Springsteen verified Fan.

I know!! Bob wanted Springsteen tickets! If a person does not really want Paul Canada tickets (like me) don’t get verified!

No, just was saying what I would do if it were me... not going for that leg of the tour... will wait and see what's on schedule for October 1 and after... (fingers crossed for at least 5 US concerts before the end of the year...)

Yes, let me clarify....I did not mess up anything. There were 3 separate Verified Fan sales for Bruce Springsteen on Broadway and here you are talking aver 100 dates to choose from ( he extended his run twice, thus 3 different sales) . The problem here is, registering does not guarantee a code or even a chance to get tickets. Especially with a limited run of 4 shows, I'd be very worried.. I was not impressed with my Verified Fan experience thus far

Right, it is a horrible system. I was on standby for the first Springsteen sale but did eventually get a code. And friends also did eventually get them for the other sales so there was lots of helping each other out. But not even being given the chance to buy tickets because TM has decided not to let you shop is just frustrating. And whatever they say about their selection process "verifying" fans is nonsense. It's a lottery. People were signing up for TM accounts for their kids and getting codes, while people like Bob, veteran concert goers, never got a code.

Is the purpose of the "verified fan" presale to try and counteract touts (scalpers)? If so then, I think there are better ways to do that (Ed Sheerin's method for example). If a tout knows they have until Sunday to register, then they have as much chance as anyone else to get a code, especially if they have multiple email addresses. To me a "verified fan" is someone who's been registered with this site for say at least 12 months. Good luck to all those trying to get tickets for the Canadian shows.

It is to combat the bots that scalpels use to scoop up tickets during sales. It supposedly lets less people in at a time to make it easier for fans to get tickets. The codes are tied to each TM acct so only the account holder can use. But of course scalpers can sign up for codes...but the system is supposed to go thru your TM purchase history and determine that you are a "fan". That is why you have to wait to be "verified"Not everyone who signs up will get a code. Sometimes you get put on standby, which means that an hour into the sale, they may suddenly text out a code if there are still tix available. The Springsteen tix were normal delivery so after being purchased, lots of them found their way onto StubHub. Doesn't deter scalpers at all imho.

I used to be a nurse in the O.R., so your typo using “scalpels” several times instead of “scalpers” gave me a laugh!

Stupid iPad auto-word thing. I went back and fixed them.

A lot of the Verified Fan anecdotes here seem to be based on the Springsteen Broadway sale, which I think may be its own beast given the high demand because I've had different experiences with it for more standard arena shows. It seems to me it's more like one of the other presale options, like the credit card or fan club presales where they set aside a block for it and whatever doesn't get sold during the presale winds up back in the regular sale pool. I've easily gotten tickets to shows where I didn't get a code. Sometimes I've gotten a code, but found there were better seats available through other presale options or just by waiting. From my experience I'm seeing it as another option to try so if you think there's a decent chance you'll go to these shows, sign up, but don't fret if you don't get it. However I have no idea how these particular sales will be run.
