The Beatles Mentioned on TV
-
On The Simpsons Sunday, Marge tries to get the Comic Book Guy to drop grand theft auto charges against Homer. He says, “As for you, I am not budging! Like the door of the Fortress of Solitude when the Beatles tried to visit. Pure folly!”
Millhouse is there and says, “That comic is non-canonical!”

PBS is also running Ron Howard's EDAW as part of their Festival fund raising.

On “American Soul” (which is all about Don Cornelius and the show “Soul Train”) this guy tells Don, who is having Little Richard on the show, “You know The Beatles opened for Little Richard in London long before they had a record out. That’s vision!”
Actually, that’s not true. It was New Brighton and they already had Love Me Do out.

On Real Time With Bill Maher last night they were talking about “cultural appropriation.” Bill says, “If somebody sings a song that was inspired...I mean the Beatles sang songs that were inspired by R&B groups in the 50s. That doesn’t mean that those people aren’t able to sing their own songs.”

Family Guy, Sunday night:
Roger and Steve are shooting a show that they want to get out of. (Long story!)
Roger: “Great news Steve, we’re shooting in Vancouver. That means this show is shot on the cheap. All we have to do to ruin it is go over budget.”
Steve: “How the hell do we do that?” Roger: “Sing The Beatles. It can cost as much as 5 million dollars to sing just two notes of a Beatles song on air! All you need to do is pick one.” Steve: “Oh, man, I’m usually more of a Monkees guy!” Roger: “What?!” Steve: “Hey Jude!” (They start singing and only get out “Hey...”) The next scene shows them being thrown off of a bus back home and the driver yells “No Beatles ever!”
On The Kids Are Alright Tuesday night, (which takes place around 1972) one of the kids is watching the Jerry Lewis telethon and they show a bit of John and Yoko’s appearance singing Give Peace A Chance. (I probably saw that live!)

The Simpsons (quite a while ago)
-
On “Man With A Plan” the oldest daughter decides to go vegan after seeing a film. She shows it to her dad, who is a teary-eyed about how they named the chickens - Anne Hatch-away and Eggy Van Halen. “And there was this cow - his name was Paul Moo-Cartney!”
-
Not The Beatles, but tonight on “Will & Grace” they had a bachelor party for Jack. The next morning, written in lipstick on the mirror is “Great party! YOKO & GAGA”
-
Tonight on “Entertainment Tonight” they showed a clip from “Veep” where a woman says to Julia Louis-Dreyfus’s character: “You’re running again?” and this man in the scene says “The band is getting back together again?! I get it, I’m Ringo.”

GOOGLE COMMERCIAL
Authorized by the people at 27 Ovington Square
-
This isn’t a totally new commercial. It was on months ago, but in a shorter form I believe. I mentioned it in the “Beatles On TV” thread. What is 27 Covington Street?

Now I see you’ve changed it to Ovington Square.

Last night on The Daily Show Trevor Noah says to Bernie Sanders, “You are the political Beatles!”

AMEN!

Yesterday on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, he referred to Mitch Mulvaney as “the Conservative John Lennon.” (He wears round wire-rimmed glasses like John used to)

They obviously paid to use the original song (Google can afford it!) Since Google is a search engine that helps you find things, it was a perfect choice. I like it!

Tonight on The Kids Are Alright, which takes place around 1972, two of the boys were trying to win Led Zeppelin tickets on the radio. Their dad thinks the boys are talking about the Zeppelin airships. One of the older sons tells him, “They’re talking about the band.” The dad says, “Zeppelin’s a band now? Your generation ruins everything. Hermits, stones, beetles. Words used to mean something!”

Last night on NCIS: New Orleans, Tom Arnold plays a recurring character named Elvis Bertrand. Dwayne Pride - played by Scott Bakula - tells his team, “We have a history.” Elvis says, “Yeah, I’ve saved his ass many times.” Dwayne: “You saved MY ass?” Elvis: “I’m like the 5th Beatle!” One of the team members asks, “Why is the 5th Beatle sabotaging a secure government network?”
