Where's Paul been lately?

It probably was. I remember it was called the Hand Hotel, which struck me as being an odd name.
OMG, yes! That was the name of the hotel we stayed at in 1980!!
Small world. I've just checked my diary and I stayed there for two nights ( 11th-13th June 2004). Wouldn't it be funny if we had the same room ....albeit 24 years apart?

Now that really would be insane! I looked at my photos and the church was directly out of our window (so close I couldn't get the whole church in frame)

I've stayed in so many hotels over the last 25 years in particular that I can't really recall much about this particular hotel now. I can't recall the room at all and can only really remember the dining room over looking the churchyard, which was quite a peaceful scene really.

Where were your holidays located?
Criccieth ( Wales) and Southport...near Liverpool !!
Been to Criccieth a couple of times on day trips from our main holiday in Llandudno, we got to L L all the time, we should be there now on a week's holiday but were forced to cancel. I miss it . Have you ever been to penmon point on anglesey? The lighthouse and puffin island there are my favourite place in the world.. We'dve had a day there this week if we'd been allowed to go away. I can breathe ther e... we used to have two weeks in Wales every year staying in 'LL and also days out from there all over, but since having our son we have a week in june and a week in sept, two weeks in one go would be too much for him (it's nearly the end of all this as in Sept 21 he starts school, which makes missing this year's trip even more depressing). We also go once or twice a month for a day trip, not been now since January -boy I miss the sea. Had a few hours at Crosby beach today as my partner took a day off (unlike Southport you could see the sea heh, though it's practically the mersey really!.) Talk about going off topic! Sorry

No I haven't been to Anglesey. To be honest, the main reason for staying at Criccieth as it was fairly easy access to Portmeirion although I did travel around the Snowdonia National Park a few times. Yes, the sea does go out a long way at Southport doesn't it? Its like standing on the end of pier and wondering where the sea has gone?

ah a Portmeirion lover! I've only been there the once about 10 years ago now. Lovely place. I know George was fond of it.

I try and go every other year if I can. Yes, George was even interiewed during the 'Anthology' series from one of the Portmeirion cottages. Plus, there is a photo of George Martin & Brian Epstein sitting in the sun there, taken in 1966 I believe. I suspect Paul must have visited the place as well at least once.

I know we are way off topic, but I had to share with you all that IHG has extended their date to any bookings up to Aug. 31, 2020, so for sure we can get 5 nights refunded! Will probably wait a bit to see if they extend it through Sept. 30th so we can get the other 6 nights refunded. I'm not even sure I want to rebook for Aug/Sept 2021 because without a vaccine, this virus could still be around!

That's some good news at least. I can understand your caution though about re-booking. It would take a very brave person to forecast what the world will be like 12 months from now.

He's looking great! We've all experienced what it's like being cooped up during the quarantine, and the need to just get out of the house, so I'm glad they can take walks and get some sunshine. Love the dog they have too, wonder what breed it is?

WEren't they out with Mary's dog once before? It could be hers. It looks like a mutt.

What would Mary's dog be doing in the Hamptons?

I just thought it was doubtful that Mary, her family and their dog would be traveling to the Hamptons with the pandemic still in full swing.

I don't think Mary would travel at this time or take a dog outside the UK. Kestrel or someone from Britain can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they still have a policy that when you bring a dog in from outside the UK it has to be quarantined for rabies for six months before it can be returned to it's owner. So I doubt she'd have traveled with a pet to the Hamptons that she planned on taking back with her.
There's been several candid instagram photos from the last few years of Paul and Nancy out walking in New York, with a dog that looks very similar to the one with them in the photo released yesterday. I remember seeing an interview Paul did for GQ where a dog that looks very much like it can be seen briefly:

It appears that our quarantine rules are not as strict as they once were and so long as certain conditions are met then the pet doesn't have to enter the six month quarantine period.
However, when you read through the list of conditions that have to be met, then on balance I would think it was unlikley that it was Mary's dog.

Thanks for sharing that info, Kestrel. I was going by my own experience. When I was 10, our family bought a house from a British family that was relocating back to Liverpool, and we took care of their Airedale terrier Alfie for a few months until it could be sent back to them. I can remember feeling sad for him that he had to be locked up for six months!
(Never thought about it until now, but Alfie must have been named after Michael Caine! )
