A famous American network reporter who has famous brother as high ranking official in the state of NY constantly preaches about wearing a mask on his show. He caught the virus and while he had the virus was discovered outside in his neighborhood and when confronted got belligerent to the people who said something. This same guy has also been told by his apartent management that he has been caught several times not following the mask policy of the apartment and if caught again will be fined. So while Paul may have been wrong, I will take his infraction of an order over the American guy I mentioned.
That is very frustrating when high profile people apply double standards, especially when it relates to something so serious as the pandemic. The irony of all this is that Paul could have actually recorded the album at home, just like he did with the McCartney album. Paul has already mentioned that he has been using the same recording equipment from 1970 on the new album so he could easily have set up a temporary studio and simply stayed at home like he was supposed to do. Originally that's what I thought he had done when early reports suggested he'd recorded in his home studio.
Trust me Kestrel, there is much worse here in the US. The Governor of the largest state (California) has order that even in our own home for Thanksgiving we can't have more than 10 people and people from different families. Meanwhile, the Governor was photographed at very expensive French restaurant with 12 people and nobody was social distant and wearing a mask. When news came out about the story, the Governor said they ate outside and then the pictures came out and showed he lied and they were eating inside. We have a US Senator from that same state being caught walking thru private airport without a mask while hopping on private jet. The same Senator who preaches about the pandemic and climate change shows what a hypocrite she is.
IMO I don't think anybody really cares that he did not follow this order. He was on his own property, the two individuals had the freedom to say no and people believe he is the type to take safety precautions. I am willing to bet that if the police saw him and actually had the "nerve" to tell him to head back to his house, he would have politely turned around and went home.

Yeah, and its because nobody really cares that (in the UK at least) 500 people are dying a day. If people just did what they were instructed to do in the first place many more lives would have been saved. Paul & co got away with it this time but had he ended up on a ventilator and died, I can well imagine that a lot of fans who don't care what he did or didn't do would now be making a big fuss and saying what a tragedy it was etc etc.
Double standards by people who should know better goes on the world over unforunately.

My last post on this subject, we are not going to totally agree. I am not a doctor but I wonder what the odds are of you getting the virus if you stay socially distant from two other people in the same room and everybody has masks on. Let's add on that maybe they had N95 masks for added protection. As for 500 people dying in the UK a day, could it be that like young people in the US they are still partying with their friends in large groups without masks? Could it be that health care workers are getting it trying to take care of COVID patients. (my wife is in nursing in US). It could be a whole bunch of reasons IMO more likely than three people in a spacious room recording a new record.

I'll make this my last post on the subject so I won't pose any questions but would just say that the virus isn't just airborne but on surfaces too. So with recording sessions at Hog Hill with three men from three different households sharing kitchen and toilet facilities, I find it hard to imagine that they would be cleaning every surface of every switch, plug, door handle etc that they were touching throughout the day, every day, for weeks on end.
Partying in large groupos by younfg people is banned in the UK although obviously it does go on, and people are getting heavily fined. Personally I think its the kids in schools (the super spreaders),who although unaffected by the virus themselves, are spreading it to their parents and wider families. Most of the people who are dying are mainly the elderly with weakened immune systems (another reason why Paul should have stayed at home) or those people who were seriously ill anyway.
Anyway, that's it. Thanks for your replies Yankeefan 2, I've enjoyed reading them.

I wonder did they wear masks? I’ve heard doctors say that if you wear a mask you can very well avoid it, or lessen the amount of inoculate that you would get and therefore a lighter or possibly have an asymptomatic case.
For example, 2 women in a beauty salon unknowingly had Covid. They both wore masks, as did their 127 customers, none who caught COVID. All the pictures we saw of Paul with Nancy showed him wearing mask, gloves, glasses and carrying a bottle of gel. So it did look like he was being careful. Glad he made the album!
