What was the first song you heard from Paul McCartney that made you a fan?

@njr When they re released Help! The double dvd boxed version a few years ago, we had a celebration party at the City Barge Pub. As you may know the City Barge was where the Beatles ran into whilst being chased by the Scottish band in the Help! Movie. Ringo met the tiger in the cellar, except there is no cellar there, that bit was filmed at Twickenham studios. Anyhow, we had our Help! Party at the City Barge. We invited actor Victor Spinetti. As you probably know he appeared in nearly all the Beatles movies. We didn't think he would come to our party. Then about 8.pm this London Taxi arrived in the pub carpark, and this familiar figure stepped out. We couldn't believe it but it was Victor Spinetti. He spent the entire evening at our party telling us great stories of his time when he worked with the Beatles.

@wandy That is so cool about Victor Spinetti coming to the Help! party! He was in all 3 of their movies, plus was in Paul’s 1978 music video for “London Town!”

P.S. I have been to the City Barge pub as well, in 2011. -
I saw her standing there..

@njr You shoulda come to our Help! Party and had a chat with Victor Spinetti. I filmed the evening. Still got it on dvd. I filmed loads, practically all, the Beatley things we did. In 2006 we went to Chiswick House Garden's where the Beatles filmed the Rain and Paperback Writer promo films, with the Counterfeit Beatles ( minus "John" ) and they entertained us in the greenhouse, and other areas of the gardens with some Beatley tunes. We sat in the exact spot where JP and George sat under a tree. In the promo film Ringo sat on a plinth. The plinth is still there but we couldn't sit on it because there is a giant pot-plant on it now. But it was a great day.

Been to Chiswick House in 2011 and 2022. Got pics of the tree and statues. -
Hey Jude, I remember listening Queen. I was a mega Queen fan and then had the idea to branch out and listen to other bands. Remembered a song called Hey Jude looked it up and found the Beatles. I remember hearing Beatles songs when I was a wee lad but I never liked them. My father always loved the Beatles and now I do too.

@zambie
I remember the first time I heard a Beatles song. It was in the car with my mother. I remember it well. It was Penny Lane. The first thing that struck me was John Lennon's nasal voice. That's not a pejorative. But something... startling. I had asked my mother who it was. She said, "It's the Beatles.” I was stunned. That's where it all started for me. But it wasn't the first time I heard about these four guys. But that's another story...P.S. I love Queen.

@littlewillow You do know that Paul sings Penny Lane, I hope? Were you just talking about John’s backing vocals?
-
@littlewillow Love Reading all these "how I discovered the Beatles", stories ️

This post is deleted! -
@njr Yes , I know. But the second voice that John Lennon did grabbed me. I don’t know why.
-
@wandy Do you want to know how I really discovered the Beatles
-
@littlewillow Whaaa? Of course!!

@wandy
Well, okay. So... it's not a very impressive thing. But I first discovered the Beatles through a song that mentions them. That was in 2012. One day with my mother I was preparing some songs for a friend's 50th birthday. He was born in 1962 (I am French and so is the song).
So the song is about the year 62 and all the stars of that year. (If you are interested the song is called Cette année là. By Claude François)
So my mother took the initiative to make me discover these artists and in these artists there is, between Marilyn and Hollywood... the Beatles. She went to get a video of them in concert and the first time I saw the Beatles I posted a funny question to my mother.
" -Says mom. Are they girls dressed as boys or boys dressed as girls?"
My mom replies:
"-No, they are boys with long hair."
Me:
"-Ah, right. But it's ugly."
Here was my first encounter with this legendary group. At that time I didn't like long hair very much. But my opinion changed quickly when I heard Penny Lane for the first time...And you? How did you first discover the Beatles?

@melody-shea Whatever link or photo you were trying to post didn’t work. ️
Also, could you please try to punctuate your posts? They are hard to follow with no periods or commas and just one big run-on paragraph.
Thanks!
