Ivan Vaughan
-
In his short tenure as tea chest bass player in The Quarrymen.
-
@njr Ivan shared the same Birthday as Macca.18.06.42.
-
@wandy Yes, I think we all know that. (well, most of us anyway!)
-
Hi Nancy! Am I correct when I say that Ivan Vaughan is a very important person in Beatles history? It was Ivan Vaughan that introduced John Lennon to Paul McCartney!

Yes, he was the mutual friend who brought Paul to the Woolton Fete to meet John on July 6, 1957! (and changed all our lives!)
-
@njr Yes I went to the field where Paul stood watching John singing for his band The Quarrymen, in Woolton Village. I belive there was a scout hut there originally, but when we went in 2008, there was a girls school there. We had to go in school holidays time. Not a good "look" grown men peaking through bushes and trees in the direction of a girls school lol!! Opposite is the church hall where Paul showed John how to tune his guitar. Really, from that point, John and Paul became Lennon & McCartney. There is a plaque on the wall of the church hall describing John's feelings about meeting Paul.

Took this is 2011:

@njr Yes that's the plaque I was referring to in my posting.

WOW, Ivan Vaughan was only 51 years old when he passed away in August 1993.

The only Beatle house I haven't visited in Liverpool was George's house. I guess now it will never happen ️
Edit: just read Georges Admiral Grove House is now open for visits and "stays." Must have been bought up by somebody to make a business from. -

I’ve only seen the 1st (oldest) one twice. -

I’ve only seen the 1st (oldest) one twice.Arnold Grove. Such a tiny little house. Also saw Ringos 9 Madryn St house. His mother did a straight swap with her mothers house, because the rent was 10 shillings cheaper. Just swapped houses. No messing. In the second house ( can't remember the address even though I have been inside lol!!) Fans used to line up along the backyard wall and wait for Ringo to come out,to use the toilet. Poor Ringo

Did you know they painted a huge mural of Ringo on the side of the Empress Pub at the end of the street? (and painted the rest of the building too!)
